Test results from clomid challenge test not so good...

I had a consultation with another RE from the through the same office I've been going to treats with.  He's the IVF specialist.  It been 2 weeks since my IUI, and I can tell that I'm not pregnant.  Don't even want to bother with the HPTs.  We went over reproduction and the stages of developement, and aging of the ovaries.  All my tests (FSH levels and HSG) have looked good.  So at the end of the consult I asked my doctor if he could go over the clomid challenge results and explain what the numbers mean.  He looked at the day 3 results and those were in the acceptable range.  But when he looked at the day 10 results, he said they were too high!!  I was in a state of shock!  How could this be?  After the nurses told me that the test results came back fine!!??  The numbers needed to be below 10.  Above 20 or 23 is in the menopausal range.  Mine were at 15!!  I so tried to hold back the tears so I could get more information from him.  He explained that procedures like the IUI or IVF really aren't going to help me.  He is such a nice man!!  I could tell he felt my disappointment, and I felt bad for not being able to keep my eyes dry.  He also suggested using an eggdonor, but I don't think I would go that route.  At that point I think i would adopt, or just through in the towel.  Maybe....My husband has a 12 year old daughter, and he so wanted more children.  He is such a love though!  He always says that he'd rather have me and no children, than be with someone else and have more.  I still have those feelings of lack of self worth creep up into my head.  At one point in my life I had made a decision to never have children, but when I met my husband over 3 years ago, he arroused my desire to reproduce and nurture a little us, into a thriving, confident adult.  In my 20's I was very very fertile.  And I thought I would be that way till my 40's since my own mother had me at 42, and my sister had her last one at the age of 42 also.  But, time waits for no one....   I know these feelings will pass, and I will be able to keep trying.  Even the Doctor said that there was still a possibility that I could conceive.

I\'m so sorry that you didn\'t get better news . . . what was you Day 3 FSH? I\'m a bit confused . . . he said there was still a possibility of conceiving, but he also said that IVF wouldn\'t help unless you used donor eggs? This is all so hard. I too just assumed age wasn\'t going to be a really big deal . . . so many years spent hearing, all it takes is one time and trying NOT to get pregnant . . . they made it all seem so easy. Sure hasn\'t turned out that way. How are you holding up?

Yup, time does not wait for no one. I too put off having kids until my late 30\'s thinking that it won\'t be too difficult and now I feel that I have to rush. I\'m on my 5th IUI and have looked into IVF. I\'m debating to go one more round of IUI or move straight to IVF. I turned 38 about a month ago and nonstop I received IUI\'s. I wonder how much my body could take with all these drugs. Which ever path you take I hope that you will be given a chance of motherhood.
