Tempus Fugit

Been asking myself what I was going to do with the extra hour from DST ending and updating the journal finally occured to me.  Hard to believe the year is almost out since my last entry - an inspired classic if I do say so myself.
Li'l GUN turned six and is in first grade this year.  His network of friends is growing faster than he is, and that's a lot.  By my reckoning, he's been to at least one birthday party every month since July, and he has another one on the calendar this month.
I noticed today that he comes up to just above my hip - perfect headlock height.  I think he stands next to me now just to encourage the noogie onslaught.  Maybe boys are hardwired to seek out physical contests, or maybe fathers are hard wired to visit them upon their sons.  I'd expect good sense to prevail at a certain age so that I'm not presented with a good-natured flying body tackle upon my sixty-second birthday.
Birthday's, funerals and weddings.  By George, I've just stumbled upon the theme for my year-end journal entry!  For now, let's close on the wedding.  My nephew has found his life partner and soul mate at the age of 26.  Good on them both.  I met her just this past July.  Lovely girl and a very hard worker.  We're flying out to the ceremony - a two day affair per her family's tradition!  They asked Li'l GUN to be the ring bearer.  Great.  Now will get birthday party invites on both coasts.
