Tears = The woman's pressure relief valve
Well, since I watched my granddaughter all day Saturday and wasn't able to get to church Saturday night, I went Sunday morning... and cried through the whole thing. Tears of fear, tears of happiness, tears for no reason at all, lol...
There was nothing really in the service itself that should have made me get to that point, but I think it happened because I was in awe of just about everything. You see, the reason I began to go to this church is because the book "A Purpose Driven Life" talked about finding "community" within a church. And at the stage i was at during that time (extreme loneliness), that's exactly what I needed....
It was the brochures that triggered the tears yesterday... notes about community within the church, notes about community outside the church. And that's when it hit me... the power and greatness of a God in a community based on Him. The sermon itself was about the people crying out "Hosanna" on the first Palm Sunday... and all I could think about were those people... what did they do afterward... did they return to their homes spreading the news on what they saw? i wondered how Jesus had affected their lives back then, or the lives of all the people he performed miracles for... I kept thinking about that "community"...
Before the service I noticed on the brochure how so many businesses downtown were contributing to the goodness of the community, giving unselfishly. Little things like arranging fund raisers for the pregnancy care center, repair groups for helping the elderly and disabled in repairing or maintaining their homes, or to just be a drop off point for things like diapers.... these are businesses where the owners saw their purpose, started out really small, faced difficulties, trusted in God and then it grew. And when their businesses grew, instead of focusing on themselves and their profits, these people focused on giving back... they've been there for YEARS and I never noticed that before... I never noticed that the "community" and the giving had been there all along...
Yep, that's what I want.... to be giving more as part of a community. So, I immediately decided to focus on doing that right away in that I'm going to be participating in those community events...
And there's another AHA in yesterday... when I got up, I immediately began to procrastinate out of fear again. As the dogs and I were getting ready for morning exercise before church, I started planning out my day in a way where I was mentally running from what I really needed to do... I wanted to go skiing or snowshoeing the entire day and kept putting off working on that business plan with the thought that "if" I got back at sunset I'd work on it a little bit.... But God had different plans, lol. It was 11 degrees when we got to the dog park, 3 degrees up at the ski trail all day with WINDS, lol, and Deeder (my Jack Russell) only wanted two minutes of sniffing before she told me she was done. God was definitely telling me to stay indoors and get to work!
And so I did. After church I watched Oprah's Super Soul Sunday while having lunch (I recorded it so I can rewind if I missed anything)... got HUGE AHA's out of it, then went right down and got started..... and typed, and typed, and typed... I stopped at 7pm. And my business plan is now more than 3/4 of the way done! And not only almost done, but clearer and went together more smoothly than I EVER expected... All that I have left to do is the financials (1, 2 & 3 year budgets).
WOW. And I'm still crying... tears softly rolling down my face in awe of God's power even as I'm typing today. I'm still scared, lol... but step by step, that fear is fading. LATER!
