Tapestry
A New TraditionTapestry Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, willing to share.(l Timothy 6:18) With Christmas only a few weeks away, we have the perfect opportunity to practice generosity. Instead of focusing only on family and friends this Christmas, why not plan a new holiday tradition that centers on giving to others who are less fortunate? It could be as simple as cleaning out your closets and giving away the items you no longer use. If you have children, let them be involved in choosing which toys they want to give away. Or purchase a brand new toy or article of clothing to give to a child who may not receive a gift this year. Then be encouraged with the biblical truth found in Proverbs 22:9: "A generous person will be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor." And Jesus said in Luke 6:38, "Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure - pressed down, shaken together, and running over - will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you." Make a difference in someone else's life this Christmas as you show the love of Christ.~~~~~~~~~ Lord, please help me and my family to withstand the pressure that fosters greed and materialism. Please give me a generous spirit instead. In Christ , Amen
