Talked to dad a bit

I talked today to dad.  He told me that he was going to call me today.  Before we started i thanked him for remembering to talk to me today as he had promised last week.  As it happens he actually did not remember but it was a coincidence that he talked to me.  Nevertheless I thanked him for talking today because even if it was a coincidence, we had a chance to talk.  He was apologetic that he didn't talk to me but that is alright.  Actually I was a little worried about what we were talking about so I am glad that we did not spend a longer time talking.  I hope that my gesture will make us feel warmer to one another and improve on the relationship.
