Taking The Time
Last night could not have been more perfect! I had such a challenging day at work yesterday which left me mentally exhausted. I received an email from my son' teacher during the day that he did not complete on of his reading project to the best of his ablility. Not only dealing with work issues but then dealing with home issues as well. I felt like things were spiraling out of control. I was stressed out because he has now lost his field day at school as a consequence from his teacher. I agree with it but it also hurts me that he will not be participating.
I approached the night with ease and knew that I had to sit down with my son and give him some tough love but also give him some needed mom time. I am happy that I was able to pull it off. He and I talked about things going on at school and things that are going on in his head. Trying to pick his brain to find out why he is not motivated with his school work. So we worked on his school work and I listened to him while he practiced his instrument.
I feel I progressed on my goals last night with my son. I know he felt it too!
I was also able to spend some QT time with my BF. He and I talked for about an hour about the days events at work and just about random stuff. He always has a way to make me laugh and feel good at the end of the day. We always talk on my way home from work at 5 which is really great because it gives us a chance to unwind before I get home to see him and it is so good to hear his voice before I see him. He has been so busy with school (he is pursing his MBA) that we hardly have time for each other so when there is time we make the most of it. Last night he had some school work to finish, so I told him I would go grab dinner so he could continue with his school work. After dinner we talked some more and watched a little TV. He also came into the bathroom while I was blow drying my hair before bed just to get that little extra time together. (I thought that was sooooo sweet!!!!)
Here is to another day of being a better person, being honest with myself and with others, being mindful that others come first, spending time with my son, and showing my BF just how much he means to me!
