Taking Charge

My day started off with a crisis with sis. I called her just an hour beofre her resheduled hairdo and I headed to pharmacy (for me) and she was calling me as I pulled up. She came to car all flustered and said she could not find her card. I looked and it actually wasn't there. I went with her up 85 stairs (not actually but felt like it) and could not find it or another purse anywhere. I called to tell her stylist and see if we could AGAIN reschedule. Laine was upset and kept thinking I or Brandi should be able to see she got her haircut TODAY. I called her hubby and it turned out he forgot to put the card back in her purse after he picked up a couple groceries the other day.   I explained to her that I cannot afford to pay for her hair (I actually could have put it on my card but I can't make it a habit They have money and I am trying to get by and hang onto what little I have .

I know it is not nice, but after hearing 27 times... "but I didn't know, if I knew ahead of time."  I finally spoke up and said "I did not call you yesterday because you either would have forgot or called me 27 times that day!"          She gave me a look then said "Really?"and started stomping toward her stairs. She came to get her purse, proceeded up and slammed her patio doors.   My moments of peace were short lived. haha  Anyhow it all worked out.

I made out well at the pharmacy and got home to 87 letters about insurance and claims and renewal.... Things are looking better today (I am aware my luck seems to change from day to day though)  They tell me I am elligible for special help (which my insurance rep has been telling me for some time already. I double checked before I took my order and discovered I got my new meter and lancets for free, tips which before they said were $47 are now $4.50. I did notice they had no test strips so I pointed it out and waited since they forgot to fill them (saved me another trip).  Everything only cost $5!  woo-hoo

Then chatted with coworker and mentioned needing next Wed off for sis's hair. There are alot of changes still going on since few that are left are also planning on going. I told her I was staying through this year but am done January 1st.  She was surprised as I've said this before but stuck it out.   I've been trying to keep going and just work a few days , partly because I thought it was better if I did. It does me good to be out and around people and making a difference, but in the end of the day I often come home exhausted and not able to do anything . Truthfully since Medicare (Sept 1st) each day I come home to a new struggle or hoop I have to jump through and it will be simpler to not have to count or prove income / savings and just base on my SSDI check.

I am checking into a free seminar for honing in on my writing and a couple of other ideas to help get by. I am also looking forward to helping "Blessed Beginnings" (with crafts/ time)    Also I must share I finally picked up the phone and called Bill W  (and interrupted his marathon of SOA. LOL)   He was very kind and offered his number to call if I ever wanted to talk, so today I decided to pester him.   Thanks for the nice chat ( and I will check out the endocrinologist)

I hope everyone's night and rest of the week goes well.  Hugs, Kim

Glad you got your "special help" although I am sorry it seems so up and down with this insurance company. I've already complained how awful my Part D is.

My sister with some kind of cognitive decline or mental illness is having some kind of issues, also. I think she lied to me via text when she didn't respond to a text I sent at dinnertime the other day. It is okay, I was mostly checking on her because I decided to text her every few weeks. I just don't have anything to say to her. My sister has bad vision and has told me many years ago she can't see at night to drive. And she told me via this text that she had to work late, like in the dark late. I feel awful that I don't believe her since she can't see in the dark to drive. It doesn't matter in my life whether this is the truth or not but the whole issue to me is she has gotten very strange.

You should not pay for things that your sister can pay for. Don't feel bad about this at all. And her husband isn't put out in his daily activity to take her to the hairdresser. What I mean is it is no skin off his nose if he forgets to give her the debit card. He has to take more responsibility for her but if he has you to do that, then he won't. I guess humans beings make mistakes but this kind of stuff feels like a waste of my precious time.

hugs my friend. God, your sister should have money with her for that reason. She should have checked that she had that credit card in her wallet. One thing that I always do, check if I have my bus pass, credit card and money. Yes my house keys. hehehe My sister has dementia and she does that too. Glad you did not bail her out. I hate to hear that you are going through so much with health care. Canada automatically upgrades everyone if there are upgrades. We do not have to go through that mess every year.
