Taking care of business.
I missed you guys I hope everyone is doing well. This last week has been busy time. Wrapping up wifey radiation. She's burned up literally and metaphorically but doing ok. She even started to do some remote work this week. We're trying to get the kids ready for return to school. Clothes and supplies ready to go and they are excited. We've been kicked in the nuts so hard lately, we decided to adopt a rescue puppy. Ugh. I'm still seeing Daisy about the house and i think she is in her spots in the morning for a second. Feel guilty about replacing her too soon but we could really use some fuzzy love here.
I can't stand this miserable fuckin heat! I'm using the rest of my vac time because it's been 100 degrees with 800% humidity. Felt guilty about that for maybe .002 seconds. I NEED to get off the shop floor immediately. I'm DONE with the wrenching, man!! 25 years and sick to death of it! The job market is still shit for a skill-locked guy like me. I mean, I could get another wrench job TODAY if I wanted, but I just don't want to break my ass any more. I'm interested in a possible opportunity as a locksmith but haven't gotten a call back. LLC is ready to go but I need SEO. It's EVERYTHING these days. Used to be ads in newspaper and business cards. Not any more. You need to be on page 1 on fuckin google or you don't get clients. I have extensive computer skills but my programming knowledge is early 90's! SEO costs a bunch of money so for now I'm just going to enjoy the AC sitting on my ass as much as possible worrying about shit.
Trying to stay viable so I took on a project. (As you know, my last diy project didn't go so hot. Lol. I can laugh at it now) The new house came with an old outdoor spa. I don't want it because I was fairly certain it was inop. With the heat and kid boredom I decided to clean it out good. I figure even if it doesn't work, I'll keep it just for the kids to mess around with. Well turns out it doesn't work and it leaks almost as fast as you fill it. No one will take the damn thing and I gotta pay for removal. Even then, the scrap guys won't disconnect power. Joy. You can't take the damn thing apart with a screwdriver and ratchet, so I got my sledge hammer, sawsall and cutting wheel and get to wreckin. Well, I found out where all the fuckin wasps have been coming from... I'm like, "I don't get where all these bastards are coming from! Got rid of all nests on the house and shed but they still hassle the kids." Found em all!!! Managed to run away without any stings surprisingly. Nature hates my ass. Man, as I get older, the list of shit I'm NOT goona do around the house keeps getting longer. Back to the couch.

Wanna swap your leaky bathtub for a mystery septic tank? We placed the double wide trailer we currently call home in January, 2020. In the course of building the porch, we discovered we had placed a corner of the house atop a septic tank no one knew even existed. Maybe just near the corner of the porch. We're afraid to look to closely. I'll trade it for an above ground spa in a heartbeat. Those can make dandy raised gardens.
We're in week two of school here and even trying out sending them on the school bus instead of driving them the 16 mile round-trip. School buses were banned last year. So far, so good. The kids are loving it. The Corona authorities are still mumbling their masked threats, but we are holding steady through the steady sees. Prayers ongoing. . .
We were able to find a local guy who took our hot tub out with a lot of hard work from four of us and a heavy wench, pry bar and six hours of time. The tub had not been moved since it was placed on the cement slab ten years prior. $250 was well worth it. The guy found the leak and fixed it and is still enjoying the tub-he only had to replace the siding on one side. Good for you to get rid of all those wasps and to do demolition work successfully!
When it comes to jobs, when you wrench for a living, and you want to change fields, it takes time to make the words on the job description transfer into other skills, abilities, and knowledge. It can be done, just know you have to start with the basics, and look for how it would reflect in the job you want.
Enjoy the puppy. You'll keep seeing Daisy for a long time, as she is still helping.

I moved in with my mom when she had breast cancer for 3 years and got her through surgery, radiation, and chemo, so I know what you mean when you say your wife is burned up but still ok. It's a heck of a contradiction to witness, isn't it? Having that and kids going back to school--in a pandemic, no less--is a lot to have on your plate. Ironically, it's cooler here in Mexico at 70 degrees every day that it is for you up there right now. How crazy is that? Sending you my support, biingofuel.
