I have been a customer of the Sanam for 15 years and have never had a bad meal. Over this time I have introduced many customers personally and have no hesitation in recommending this to all. This has got to be the best Indian restaurant in Derby and possibly the whole country. In fact Anoki is recognised as one of the UK's top ten Indian restaurants in the Times newspaper. Our chef has been recruited from the Deli Taj hotel. Drinks after 15 mins, starter after 40 mins, main came after 1 hour and 10 mins. Lots of service staff maybe needs more cooks.
We got a booth even though there were only two of us which made for a more intimate meal. Menu selection has some more unusual dishes. The staff are always friendly and cheerful even though they are always busy. It's expensive for an Indian restaurant, but the food is definitely a cut above average. We were greeted by a friendly young man who invited us in and gave us a menu to look at without obligation .....We decided that the menu looked good and were shown to a booth for two people. We were given menus and our drinks order taken . We decided to order the chicken, ham and leek pie and the cajun chicken. Our food was delivered to our table and the waitress informed us how to use the hot rock.

If you want excellent food then you need to come to Spice Valley, always a warm welcome. Also compared to other Indian restaurants in the Derby area I found it very expensive for a mid week, and not good value for money. We had a really nice meal with excellent service and good value for money. The Viceroy Indian restaurant Derby at Duffield never lets me down in terms of meal quality and service and this recent visit was no exception. "But we are keeping the name of the Strutt Arms Hotel because the Strutt name is massive for the industrial heritage in that valley. It was originally built as a hotel by the Strutt family."
