Taitung City Tourism
I didn't have time to visit Tainan but i did visit Kaohsiung for a short time. Taoyuan MRT – This is one way to move between TPE Airport and Taipei. The bus is cheaper than the MRT but you may risk getting caught in traffic. MRT costs NT$160 pp to go from the Airport to Taipei. Take the Express rather than the Commuter train. The express has far fewer stops as well as place to put your luggage.
The flag carrier of Taiwan, China airlines, is best avoided in my opinion. A day trip to Sun Moon Lake is highly recommended. I visited from Taichung but there are trips from Taipei. Tainan is a cool and delicious city, Kaohsiung is hot 台東 伴手禮 推薦 but slightly more boring but nice enough. Breakfast with a view again at a B&B in CingjingShortly into the drive, it started drizzling. By the time we reached Hehuanshan an hour later, the weather was still bad with on-off rain .
Anyone sampled China Air in J on the new A350 yet?. In terms of pure nature though from what i visited- alishan, sun moon lake, taroko gorge, yehliu, Jinguashih, shifen. My friend went there actually last week and she loved it even though it was rainy and cloudy at times.
They are honest and use the metre so you know what you are paying for. Taxis are a great back up mode of transport because the MRT and buses won't always take you exactly to where you want to go. I'm after suggestions of a good area to base ourselves in. Ideally somewhere with easy access to major attractions and night markets, but not too busy/crowded. Last year we went to Japan and stayed right in the centre of Shibuya.
It's an awesome place, we focused on trying all the food and didn't do a whole lot of shopping really .. Walked through the quieter streets, went to the teahouse... We stayed close to Central Park station in Kaohsiung and liked the location. And the station itself is attractive, with a very pretty flowery escalator area. Going to Taiwan at the end of December – this time I'll travel around the island instead of staying in Taipei as I did when I went there for my first time.
Went there on a couple of school excursions and it was really amazing... I haven't been but all reports are that it's well worth visiting. December, January, and February are the best time for me to visit.
However, it would be nice if we can spent more time in other interesting places in Kaohsiung. God light temple is nice but half day seems a bit too long. Visit the numerous temples, shrines, hot springs and national parks of Taiwan on this 5-day tour around the entire island. Leave bustling Taipei behind for the remote beaches and rocky coastal scenery of Sun Moon Lake, Taroko Gorge, Kenting National Park, and the East Coast National Scenic Area. Your guide provides insightful commentary on sites such as Fo Guang Shan Monastery, Wenwu Temple, Holy Monk Shrine, and Tse-En Pagoda. Also from Xiziwan you can catch the ferry over to Qijin island which is also a bit of fun – nice to hire a bike and ride around and lots of seafood restaurants.
Although i will say i remember liuhe night market wasn't that special, nothing like the big one in taichung so i'd imagine ruifeng night market is better. We will be in Taipei next month staying 5 nights then 4 Kaohsiung, from what I understand there is no tipping or bargaining required anywhere and best to take mostly local cash as credit cards are not widely used?. Will get an easy card on arrival and seperate tickets for HSR.
It's a fairly small theme park although if you've done it before then yea no point going again. Yea they might be kinda similar but it's not going to be exactly like that style probably smaller as well but yea check those out and you can see what you think. Probably the first one i mentioned is the one that most people would go for. The other two i didn't mention were Janfusun Fancyworld Theme Park and E-DA World. I'm guessing since you are only there probably 4 full days or maybe less you are going to stick with Taipei. I managed to withdraw money there using my ordinary Westpac card, so probably, yes.
There is also an exhibit area where they showcase the various mechanisms for cars, showcasing how cars are designed and teaching children traffic safety in fun and interactive games. For that behind the scene’s experience, you can even partake in guided tours. I didn't go to that one, didn't have time. There are quite a few night markets though in Kaohsiung, those are just the two most well known ones.
