About The Distillery The Shinobu Distillery was born in beautiful Niigata prefecture of Japan, a place that is praised locally by its ‘three white treasures’, namely snow, rice and sake. Niigata 台東必買特產 is well known for its naturally blessed environment for pure water source, thus a perfect location for making whisky. Visitors can enjoy shopping while communicating with friendly market staff.
As a relatively new brewery established in 2005, they are committed to revitalising the old brewing culture of Shoudoshima. The sake is not decolourised through activated charcoal filtration, and the flavour and aroma of sake are served as it is. Tours of the small, hand-crafted sake brewery and tasting experiences are available. Visitors can also enjoy sake tasting at the adjacent cafe and bar, which was renovated from a Tsukudani factory. There is also a bakery on-site, offering a popular bread made with rice flour from sake rice. A fabulous tour, mixing ancient sites, old and new culture, historical events, cities and rural surroundings, and fun activities which gave us an insight into the country works.
