Swelling in my foot...
The joint for the big toe on my left foot has been swollen for decades. The swelling got so bad about 5 years ago that I went to the doctor to find out if there was something that I could do about it. I was having a hard time walking and couldn't wear most of my shoes.
She took a blood test, thinking it was arthritis, and it came back negative. She made me make another appointment for another opinion. She said that it was gout, and did another blood test, which also came back negative, and made me make a 3rd appointment during which she told me that it was a bunion, and did i want a referral to a surgeon so that he could grind it down?
Well, months later when I through my back out, she sent me to a chiropractor, and when he did his adjustments to my lower back, the swelling in my foot went down. Apparently, the swelling in the joints of your foot can be affected by the nerves in your lower back.
It took many different appointments with many different doctors to find out that my back was actually broken and I needed surgery.
I've had my back surgery, and it didn't go well. But I am recovering, and the swelling in my foot is much reduced and I can walk on it pretty good now.
I didn't accept what she said the first time, and the second time, I kept pushing until I found out what the real answer was. This has taught me that they don't always know what is really wrong, despite their attitude, and sometimes you have to argue with what they are telling you.
Now they are trying to force upon me a diagnosis that is extremely serious for my girl, and I don't believe it. I didn't believe that the girl was affected by a rare disorder, that only 3% of the human population (the majority of which live in war zones), especially when the woman told me that she treated a group of children in this rural Maine community that had a total of 12,000 people in 2 combined towns.
While I concede that there might very well be a case or two in a large city, I refuse to admit the possibility that my girl is one of them just because she is rude to me during her appointments.
