Surrender ( Finally )

we had the longest and most pleasant period of sobriety from mid July 2016 until mid November. By Christmas it was all shit again. He again promised to get the drinking under control but didn't even skip a day. We had a couple of our usual useless battles but I'm pretty fed up and so is he.But I ignored the situation until he was so drunk when I got home last week that I lost my mind and then he became a monster this is what changed our lives forever :  he " does not give a shit " he " hates to be told what to do " he demands that I " shut the fuck up "  he demands that I " never tell him what to do ever again" he wonders what happened to the " quiet girl he married" well..... I'm 60 years old, I'm a woman, and I endured and survived 35 years of emotional abuse by an addict. THATS what happened to me you asshole.

well ok then....

he is in excruciating back pain because he would rather drink than use his appropriate prescribed medications. So suffer,  karmas a bitch ain't it.

I wish I could give you some advice, but all I can say is I am sorry. I hate the thoughts of being married for 35 years to an alcoholic, being 60 years old and still going through the same thing I did from 33 on (I am now 43). I read this and just am sad to think this is going to be me in 17 more years if my husband survives for 17 more and nothing unexpected happens to either of us. ((((hugs))))
