Surprise From Doc
I went to the doctor yesterday to get my leg and foot checked and got a surprise. First, the infection in my right leg is getting better and, with a little more time, should heal. Will keep putting anti-itch cream on it and wrapping it with an ace bandage. She also prescribed a diueritic for help bring the swelling down. The surprise came when she looked at my left foot. I'ts been a raw sore for months and I'd been treated for a bacterial infection. Well, she took a look at it and said it was fungus. Athlete's foot! Everybody knows about athlete's foot between the toes, but I never knew it could show up in other places on the foot. Learn something new every day. She prescribed an anti-fungal cream, Lotrimin. Not an inexpensive little tube. But, I got lucky. I delayed going by Walgreen's till early this morning. Lucky? Yes! At my old job, I used get my meds at four in the morning. I made friends with the overnight pharmacist. Hadn't seen him since I started my new job. We got to talking and I told him I didn't have drug coverage yet and he suggested some replacement meds. For the Lotrimin, he found Clotrimazole. It's about have the price. And you know how I complained about no giant, economy size of anit-itch cream? Well, he brought out Rugby Hydro Skin lotion. It costs a little over $8, compared to $4 for the Walgreen cream. But, the cream is only 1 ounce, while the lotion is 4 ounces! Do the math. It can save you money if you can make friends at the drug store.
