Surprise call...

OK, so this morning I got a phone call just before 8am. Normally calls this early make me panic, thinking something's wrong with my Dad, but it turned out to be Dr. P's office calling. They had a cancellation for this afternoon and wanted to know if I wanted to bump up my first session with him. I jumped at the chance! I already had to go to where his office is located to speak with the group coordinator at 10am, so waiting around til 1pm wasn't too bad, since where he's located is basically in the heart of downtown.
So, I went to meet with the group lady, and she and I talked for a bit and decided that the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy group would be the best choice for me. The best part? A new group starts tomorrow! Then DH came and met me downtown for lunch (he'd gone home to feed the dog after we dropped my nephew off at school). He came with me to meet with Dr. P too.
Dr. P is really nice. He asked me a few questions and let me talk. He asked me about my IF treatments and how that's going. And he agreed that I can stay OFF of anti-depression and anti-anxiety medications. After discussing things for the better part of an hour, Dr. P decided that attending the group would be the best bet for me. It's a 7 week group, meeting once a week. He thinks that I should just focus on the group for now, so that I don't end up doing two different therapy sessions and just getting confused or overwhelmed.
I start the group tomorrow afternoon and I go back to see Dr. P in July. I can't believe how well that worked out for me. I'm actually in a fairly good mood today, the sadness and frustration don't seem to be as overwhelming as they usually are. I really feel as though things are looking up. The letrozole dose worked, didn't get pregnant, but it worked; I enrolled in a therapy group to help work on changing my negative thoughts into positive thoughts; and I got to see the counselor 2 months earlier than expected! All in all, this has been a pretty good day so far.

I\'m so happy you were able to get in early, and that you enjoyed your session! You have a really great attitude about things right now; the key will be to maintain it. I think you\'ll do very well in group therapy...you are fantastic at expressing yourself. Whenever I read your journals I really get a strong sense of the full range of emotions you\'re going through. Hopefully you will be able to meet others who are in similar situations as you are and you will connect with them very quickly (kind of how you did with everyone on here!). Good luck, I hope it goes smoothly for you! xoxo

Thanks ladies! I\'m looking forward to getting started on healing. It\'s been a long time coming, and I kept putting it off. No more though, I need to move forward with my life and really live life instead of watch it go by and wonder where the time has gone! The only hard part will be maintaining it, but I think I\'m forming a great support network to help when I struggle.
