Surgery Update

Just thought I'd post a quick surgery update!

I had my laparoscopy & hysteroscopy procedure on Friday. The surgery went very smoothly and my RE was able to remove a few polyps & some very minor endometriosis. He told my husband on a scale from 1-10 my endo was a 1. My RE's main concern going into surgery was the function of my left tube as that's the tube I had the ectopic in and had a previous surgery for that. But everything looked good with the dye test they do during surgery. Yay!

I had some pretty intense shoulder and rib pain the first 24 hours of being home. The RE told me it would feel like a dull achy pain but that's not at all what it felt like to me! It literally felt like I had charlie horses in both shoulders and under my ribs at the same time, no fun!! Thankfully my husband was amazing and would rub my shoulders and pat my back to help break up the CO2 gas that was causing the pain.

I have my post-op appointment tomorrow and I'm really interested to talk to my RE since he just spoke with my husband after the surgery. He did mention to my husband that because everything looked good and he was able to take care of a few minor things that he thinks we could try 1 or 2 more IUI's. We obviously need to discuss this further because I just don't know if I can mentally take doing more IUI's but I also understand that our RE wants us to do everything in our power, especially financially, to do what we can before moving on to IVF. Part of me feels like doing 2 more IUI's would be ok because we can still be seen at our clinic in San Antonio through the military and they are free. But then it's dealing with all the dang emotions and I'm just not sure. BUT I also can't argue with spending 0 for IUI's (except the cost of ds) versus THOUSANDS on IVF. And if our RE thinks that we have a good shot, maybe we should go or it...I don't know.

So that's where we are at. I will update more after our appointment tomorrow and after DH and I have had time to talk and think about our options!

Thanks for all the love ladies!

Thank you for the update! So glad that stupid shoulder pain has dissipated. I am gad your dr is hopeful with IUIs and wish you the best of luck in your decision because I know the torture in those decisions.
