surgery update

Well surgery was on the 30th, arrived in Orange County the night before to spend the night so as not to be late to the hospital...arrived at 5:50am checked in was taken to the pre-op checked in given a gown that fit!! and was told to lay on the bed under this air pillow that was warm wow!  was I comfy and cozy taken off to surgery after meeting everyone involved with my surgerg and nighty nighty to me so imagine my surprise when I woke up from surgery in some pain to ask my husband and mom what the dr said to them afterwards you know how everthing went , they had this look uh oh on their faces, they said the doctor did the redirect of the small intestine but there was a small mass on the out side of my stomach, a gastric stromal tumor small but still there the Dr. cut the whole thing out and sent to pathology waite 30 minutes when pathology was sending it to another lab for another opinion then she sewed me up bertter not to take chances so I will have to go back in a couple of weeks to finish the surgery and make my pouch!  I did have a reaction to the pain med after they took me off the morphine pump my belly has spots and hives all over it. Yes I am disappointed, all this pain and no prize however the getting rid of this tumor and the fact my fatty liver looked good are good news. Orange Coast Memorial Hospital in Fountain Valley CA top notch!  couldnt have asked for better care, they anticipated I would need something to help me sleep it was there, every detail was explained to me, well time for my nap then some jello before a shake for dinner.hugs to all that had me in their thoughts.Marijane
