Surgery Date
Hi Everybody,My surgery date is March 2nd. They will be taking out EVERYTHING. The uterus, the cervix, the fallopian tubes, ovaries, and lymph nodes. I also have a colonoscopy scheduled on the 19th, a CT scan and Ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvic area on the 12th, and a physical yet to be announced just before surgery, and I'm meeting with the genetics department since they think it is inherited.The technical term is Endometrial Cancer, and he is going to try to do the robotic surgery with 4 smaller incisions, but there is a chance that it will end up being one with a larger incision. The shortest stay I would have is overnight in the hospital if the robotic goes perfectly, and longer if the larger incision is done, like a few days. The actual recovery time is estimated at 6 to 8 weeks.I had to laugh when he said I had to sign a paper saying I understand that I would never be pregnant again. I'm 50 years old, have three kids, and two grandchildren and I am totally satisfied!Thanks for your continued prayers and thoughts and encouragement.

Are you sisters close to you in age Theresa. My sister is 49 and she has found out that she has ovarian cysts. It seems to be our age group. But that\'s why all of these tests are important. I had a lot of tests before my surgery too. They just have to make sure you are healthy for surgery. I pray everything goes well for both of your sisters too!! Remember like Dodi said we are holding your hands even though you are so far away!
Thank you for your concern for my sisters. I talked to both of them, and the one with the mammogram turned out fine, and the other did not find out any information. Just another doctor collecting information at this point. I am good today, although I was surprised to get an enema yesterday! I was shocked that the CT scanner was a young man only 23 years old, and certainly did not want to get an enema from him! But he was so nice and told me that he was taught to treat each patient as his own family member, and he was more caring than anyone I could have asked for. Keeping me distracted with questions and talking, and when we were finished with the scan he told me I did good. I told him he did too! Of course I have no results from all the work yesterday, and am not expecting to hear much unless something is drastically out of order. I\'m hoping to enjoy the weekend and then get back to business of doctoring next week!
My husband keeps hearing about these great friends I\'ve met and he\'s wondering where they are!
