Support Group
I saw the primary physician last Tuesday through special appointment. Off of the Lexapro and now on Cymbalta, 30 mg. I had reached a point where the daily anxiety was killing me, in addition to waking up at early hours, the mind starts and the anxiety and fears kick in. Reached a point where I knew I was not functioning anymore, nor had an interest in anything period. Would go to a store, and just the world are running around me. Primary said the Cymbalta will not mask the grief feelings that the counselor was concerned about, as he was in full agreement. She says that we all need different tools to help us through our journey. I did attend a bereavement support group for the first time last night. My friend Jan went with me, for she and her husband feel the impact of my husband's passing too. It was a very good step for me. Just sitting in the beginner's group and talking about me, my fears, etc. And they all say you're not crazy. While you are talking, you are reminding us of us, how we were a while back. Gives me a sense of hope, and that I don't need to be in pain or cry all the time to mourn my loss. I felt that if I wasn't in pain, nor cried, I didn't care about my husband anymore, or I would not feel love for him, or forget him. Not true, I've been told. Also discussed the fear of not wanting to go home anymore. Everyone nodding and saying they were that way too. Stay, stay, stay, for at least a year. If you move away, you will still feel the same way you do right now. Plus, you've added a double or triple loss to the loss you already have. I was the first to say I would never attend a support group, but now, I totally feel different.
