Sunrise Thursday

I have been struggling lately, wanting to get this divorce over and done, and praying for the strength to see it through while keeping my humanity.  I am wanting this over with, I am so wanting to move forward in life, yet until I know the outcome, I feel kind of stuck. Everyday I start the day with some sort of prayer. Of amazement, that I am alive, and that I participate in this incredibly beautiful universe that surrounds us.  Of humility, as I know that I do not deserve what I am and what I have, that I only have value because God has given me a clean slate through His great grace, and through His unbelievable sacrifice.  Of contriteness, because I know that every single day I do things that I should not, whether it be a thought, an action, an omission, I find I need to ask forgiveness day and night.  Of thanks, that I have another day of life. That I have been given amazing gifts in my lifetime, even daily.   I live on a small lake, and in the winter could watch the sunrise reflected in the lake. It is always beautiful, and never the same. Sometimes the water is perfectly calm, and its like a mirror reflection. Sometimes its choppy, and its distorted. But always beautiful, always different, always valuable and somehow important to me.  After daylight savings, I would have to leave for work before sunrise.  This past Thursday, while driving on this wide avenue, due east, the sun started to come up on the horizon straight ahead on the street I was on.  It appeared large, gigantic, and orange.  There were thin wispy clouds in the sky, but not thick enough to block the sun.  I was stopped at a light and noticed that the sun looked like Jupoter, with the orange background and purple clouds streaking horizontally across it. It was so beautiful, I can't write the words that describe such a sight - certainly most magnificent memory I have. While telling my good friend about this yesterday, he asked, do you believe God made that just for you?  At first I said no, the sun always comes up, and it is always beautiful.  But he wanted me to see that God's love takes many forms, and my perspective on the things I notice are gifts from God, to be noted, and cherished, and loved.  So Lord, that you for each and every sunrise that I have the honor to see, Your creative genius is above my comprehension, but I thank You so very much for what You show me and give to me.  And to us all.  Amen.
