Sunday morning,the diagnosis isn't what I wanted
Good morning journal, the time is now 9:36am,and I have awakened after sleeping for a full eight hours or so,and that was after sleeping for around seven hours yesterday afternoon. I saw my own doctor on the 27th and we discussed several things including my inability to concentrate,or my failure to retain any short term memory along with my racing thoughts. He was able to tell me that my last brain scan came back normal, which was good news, and he was also pleased with the results of my last blood tests which showed that the metformin which I take for my type two diabetes was doing it's job,all in all,not a bad visit folks. We also now have new exterior doors to our property, and I have a funky new button to hang around my neck which is connected to my telephone, which in turn is connected to the vitaline office which is monitored 24 hours a day, they also have a key to our front door which will enable them to gain access should it be required. What else?,well,we kept our appointment with my psyche doc on the 7th of March,we were there for about an hour, during which time he told me in more detail about the results of my brain scan, there was no evidence of any tumors which is what he was looking for,but he finally gave us a diagnosis as to what is wrong with me,I have bipolar,it isn't what I wanted to hear, but at least we now know,so I guess that is some sort of progress. He also gave me a test for dementia, and, apart from getting the day of the week completely wrong,I passed with flying colors. So we are now in the process of trying to stabilize my mood changes, and this will involve trying different med combos to see which ones work the best,Doctor Prince has decided to take me off the mirtazapine which I was taking for depression, the dose will be reduced over the next four weeks to wean me off gradually,he is keeping me on the venlafaxine at the same dose for now and we will review things when I next see him on June 9th,so my friends,at least things are moving slightly, which is all good. On Tuesday we have an appointment with Janet from the citizens advice bureau when we will pay the money for the debt relief orders, this will effectively make us bankrupt, but it will give us one full year of breathing space from our creditors, and perhaps at the end of which,we maybe in a better position financially to pay at least some of them,it isn't ideal, but it's all we have right now. I also had a visit from the occupational therapist the other day,she was very nice, and the outcome of her visit was that they are going to install a shower bar in the bathroom where I can actually sit when showering,a hand rail outside so I can exit our home safely, and they are also bringing me a four wheeled walking frame with a seat so that I don't have to be in my wheelchair outside all of the time. Just for good measure, she threw in a stool for the kitchen so that I can at least talk to my wife when she is in there,so we are pretty pleased with everything that's happened up till now. On March the 13th or 14th,I can't remember offhand,we have Doctor MacKay who is an endocrinologist at our local hospital,I will be very interested to hear what he has to tell me,I know it has something to do with my hormones, but apart from that,I know nothing. Then on March 17th,I have an appointment with Doctor Rau my urologist, again at hospital,so it's still busy, busy, busy, for the next couple of weeks. Later this week we have the sensory people coming in to look at installing a telephone for the deaf which would help me enormously,I tend to answer the phone instinctively when it rings, only to then realize that I'm deaf and you can't lip read on a telephone line,so it would be nice to be able to pick it up and actually be able to hear whoever is on the other end. Well journal, that is all my news for now,I would like to thank my friends for their support and comments on my journal entries,I am most grateful, and I will be in touch with you all very soon,I ask for your patience and understanding for just a little longer,I have such a lot on this month, but I am so appreciative of your friendship,it does mean so very much to me. So until next time,we ask that our Father in Heaven continue to bless us with His protection and love, may He guide our steps and our actions, and may we always glorify Him,in our words and our deeds,we are so thankful for everything He has done for us up until now,Father,You have brought us through the darkness until finally letting us see the light of Your love,it has been a long, hard road, but You have been with us every step of the way,we thank You Lord,in the name of Your Most Holy Son and our Savior Jesus Christ...........Amen.
