Summer time
Summer is finally here and the weather is just perfect. The sun comes out and the breeze picks up and the temps. stay around 70-80 degrees. Some great days for sure. The weekends are filled with car shows and cruiz-ins and people and trips with the parents. Man, life is good.!.!...Oh and the girls look great in shorts and Ts !
I haven't got my V.L. checked yet and don't know if I will any time soon. You see my parents are getting older and it is starting to show on them (77 & 79) now. So my thinking is that I will just spend as much time with them making good memories and making up for a miss-spent youth as I can. Their support was crucial for me through tx but it put such a psychological strain on them that I wouldn't want them to go through that again. I figure if it comes back I can wait a few years and try the new stuff. Life is too short to miss the good times while they are there.
I definitely need to start working on my weight/waist loss now. I'm diabetic, type two, and have high blood pressure. I'm told that if I lose the weight, about 100 lbs or more (that would put me at 150-165 at 5'5'') that the diabetes would go away as well as the high blood pressure. I take pills to control both but it would be nice not to have to.
Tomorrow is a cruze out to the wine country with the parents and their corvette and me and my M.B. to a winery that is hosting a car "show and shine",wine tasting (wont be having any wine though) and B.B.Q. should be a good trip. The only thing better would be being able to drink but I can (and will) live without it. Got the top off the car, all shined up, and waiting in the driveway for the raundevu tomorrow. Not bad for a guy who sells auto parts for a living .!

hey tim, glad u r doing great! i know u r blessed and grateful to have time with your parents, my mom passed at 68 and my dad is still alive in Cali, but that is a very long story. so happy 4 u that u can make peace with them and enjoy them on whatever terms. as far as weight loss, i preach to no one. i lost 30 since last year and need to do another 20 to be at ideal for my 5\'1 body, i gave up soda and snacks first, starting walking and doing some kind of exercise every day, although i am getting lazy again with that. i park further away in the parking lots of the malls, supermarket etc, i have a pool so i swim now that it is hot. i have a punching bag and weights in my garage, i have a bicycle being fixed as we speak, cause it had cobwebs on it from lack of use. I go to zumba classes sometimes, now i am not saying i do this everyday, but i have these options since i hate to exercise truly i do, but i force myself. i made alot of changes to my diet. trying all different recipes for salads, love summer fruits, peaches strawberries melons pineapples etc, i make a huge fruit salad and live it in the fridge to munch on. plain yogurt goes excellent with berries. i try to stay away from red meat. turkey burgers on those 100 calorie multigrain flatbreads etc and i can go on and on it has been harder for me also, cause i gave up smoking back in november, and though i don\'t crave the ciggies anymore, sometimes the appetite kicks in so i start doing some exercise when the cravings hit. i do alot of running around at work m-f and i rarely sit. Nurses are very busy on there feet kind of people, can\'t be slow now. so thats my story and i have every confidence that u can do it to. oh and giving up the alcohol of course, cuts calories as well. I was never a heavy drinker just miss my occassional glass of white whine. so instead i will just be a \"white winer in new Jersey\" ha ha. have a blast at the car shows and enjoy your day. heading off to the jersey shore now for fun in the sun...Laurie
from my experience it is so important to let them them know that they are appreciated - through good and bad times - it means so much. Do what I say I\'m am going to do. Judged by actions and behaviours not words. One day you will look around and they are not there anymore
You just keep spending time with your folks. I love it. Just lost my 90 yr old dad in Jan and 84 yr old mom 5 yrs ago but I spent everyday with them. Dropping little dinners on their porch on the way to work when they lived at home and about 6 years of everyday at assisted living and then the nursing home. Question? Do you have their assets protected? Believe me make sure you find out the rules now.. my parents lost everything to the nursing home.. Anyway so glad you are enjoying life! Thanks for your constant support!Karen
