Summer of Love Festival in a Power Chair
Having COPD, I was able to get a power chair through Medicare about a year ago but only use it when my home-care provider is around and we do a lot of shopping which entails a lot of walking. Usually I will walk the maximum and take public transportation but yesterday, decided I wanted to go to the Haight-Ashbury (35th?) Festival here in San Francisco which meant a lot of walking, etc.
I am so glad that I finally used the power chair to enjoy a sunny day outside. There was so much to see, do and several bands to listen to. There were people of all ages there, many in their 60's like myself - people who really were here at the "Haight" during those years.
Now that I took that first step going out alone, I'm already thinking of what I can do next! Didn't realize how much freedom a power chair can be!

I would have loved to been there. My hubby will be needed one of those before very long. I am glad you can still get out. Good for you!!
You know it\'s funny - I rarely used that chair for the 1 1/2 yrs I had it because I was embarrassed having to resort to one because of the COPD. Now I see how stupid I was ~~ instead, I stuck around home a lot missing out on visiting friends and just going places.
