Summer has arrived

Well, we survived the fireworks and noise of the 4th only to find summer arrive with a vengeance.  It was 93 yesterday, and it is 86 today, and the sun is intense and unremitting.  Dare I say that summer is not my favorite season.  I much prefer spring and fall.
My nephew and his family were here the last week in June, and one day we all took the boat over to Catalina Island.  It is such a beautiful place, and no matter how many times I go there, I am always happy to go back for another day.
We took the glass bottom boat tour and saw lots of different fish, and we took the "around the island tour" which took us through town, and up past the Wrigley Mansion.  Then we stopped and ate the most delicious pistachio ice cream.  My sister-in-law was in Catalina few years ago and she raved about the pistacio ice cream, so I finally decided to get away from rocky road and try the pistacio.  I think I'm a convert.
I had hoped to go to the National Ovarian Conference in DC this month, but, unfortunately, it is not going to happen this year.  Maybe next year.  I really want to go and meet other survivors and hear the speakers.
Today I finally broke down and got rid of my flip phone.  It has been time to do that for a couple of years, so I'm hoping I will like my new phone once I figure out how to use it.
My quarterly appointment with my gynoc is on July 31, and I'm hoping for good news, but, as is my custom whenever I have an appointment coming up, I put worrying into high mode.  I know it is counter productive, but that doesn't seem to help me change it.
Well, I've rattled on long enough, so I'll just wish everyone a healthy summer!    Diane

Good to hear you had a great time on Catalina Island - and with family in general.
You know what, the worrying before a appointment, I think we all do. The blood tests I had done about 3 weeks ago, I wanted to get the results quickly, and then I didn\'t really, scared of what they would tell me. Could it be bad news?? All these thoughts going through your mind, and the relief when all is good. Until next time ........... You know what, that will never change - in 5 years we will still deal with the worrying before a appointment/test. Enjoy your summer, it is freezing in Sydney at the moment, beautiful sun during the day, but cold at night. Conny

Diane- sounds like your trip to Catalina Island was dreamy. I hope you have a/c in your home. I know it got hot here too and we\'ve been running the ac. You will be in my thoughts for good results from your upcoming appointment. As we know, this is a \'one day at a time\' disease. Try to focus your energies on the positive as we all know that stress is no good for us- please let us know your results-joanne xxx
