Summer cold?
I have been battling a cold or something off and on for the past couple of months. Last week it didn't seem to bother me so I thought I was over it. This week it has returned...big time. I don't think I have an infection because I don't have a temperature and what I bring up is clear. It has caused my asthmatic cough to really kick in and my ribs, chest, back and airways are so sore. I would think that I might have allergies but I was tested and none was found. My asthma is usually a hacking,DRY, cough and I have trouble catching my breath...and occasionally pass out but I haven't had much trouble with mucous. Maybe my asthma is changing...maybe I have some unknown allergy...or maybe I just have the cold that won't go away. I don't know. I do know that it's not much fun and I am hypersensitive right now. Too bad. I like people...but I can't stand to be around them right now. I try to limit my exposure but you have to eat. At the store yesterday I ran into a problem. While standing behind several people waiting to check out, I had a serious coughing attack. The people in front of me allowed me to move ahead of them and check out right away. This is the second time I have run into a situation like this and both times the people were very kind. That does help keep my spirits up. If this cold continues I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and go in and see the pulmonologist. I was enjoying the respite from doctors. I know if I go in that there is a pretty good chance I'll be given an antibiotic ...and PRED!(Boo!) I hope I can avoid the Doc until my next scheduled visit on August 4. Oh well, other than feeling like hell, I'm doing OK. I'm in an excellent(if I do say so myself) frame of mind. I hope you all are doing great,Tom

Sorry to hear you are battling a rotten cold or something. I have always heard that if it is clear mucous coming out, then it is most likely allergies. I know my son (9) tested negative for a dust allergy, but every time he gets into alot of dust, he has problems. Maybe you are allergic to something they didn\'t test for, or you are sensitive to something that didn\'t show up on the tests. Either way, it\'s never fun to be feeling that way.
It\'s nice to see that people are still so kind and generous :)
I hope your cold thing clears up soon for you. Like you, I try to avoid going in to see the docs because I know what they are going to do. By now, I\'m sure you know when you just have to bite the bullet and go ahead in to face the music.
It\'s wonderful that you are in an excellent frame of mind. Reading that just brings a smile to my face :) I think that when people are dealing with a constant health issue like asthma, those good days just feel so much better than they used to. I know for me, I appreciate those excellent days more than ever.

Tom, I\'m glad you are in an excellent frame of mind despite being ill. When you are up to it, you need to teach that to me!
I know about that quest for respite from the doctors...but be careful, Tom. Don\'t let your asthma spin out of too much control.
Regarding your \"negativity\" on allergies, that is GREAT news. I\'m in awe of you. I\'ve been told that allergies and asthma are very common. You are in the minority and this is a good minority to be in!
Hope you feel better, Tom. Take care and do the RIGHT thing re: the doctors....I know you will.
