I now know why my college is rumored to have such a high suicide rate: because it does.
Two suicides in less than two semesters. Damn. Last semester, it was my religion teacher. This semester, it was a boy who lived upstairs. The entire undergrad population is less than 5000. Apparently, it's not unheard of to have three suicides a year.
What the fuck is wrong with this school? Three suicides in a class of less than a thousand? According to the NIMH, the suicide rate is 11.3/100000, or .01%. The suicide rate here was THIRTY TIMES the national average over three-fourths the time that year.
This school is fucked, that's all I can come up with.
