suicide prevention fundraiser walk

Participated in the suicide prevention education fundraiser walk again. This was my 3rd year.  This year I was not the parent liaison for my son's high school but was the choir liaison at the walk, instead.  What was so awesome is my son's former high school (the one I was the liaison for these past two years) had students there!  Yes - instead of NHS, the Key Club is involved instead.  It's exciting to know it wasn't dropped.  They didn't raise very much because they just joined but maybe next year!  And then a very active, high profile, excellent parent advocacy group at an area high school has advertised this walk and got other schools involved in this area due to contacts I made.  As frustrated as i got sometimes with the lack of support in the past - things are happening now..... guess these things just take time.  :-)  *Anyway - although this organization didn't come close to what they raised in the past - there were - over a 1000 people. Many 1st time attendees. And last night we attended in the art museum/studio/school/gift shop/ - whatever it is...... fundraiser and I tell you - you never would have guessed that we have a struggling economy!  It was a high class, very elegant event - two huge white circus-like tents, white lights (the theme was "city lights"), food stations were set up with the top-of-the-line restaurants, too.  So many who's - who people were there.  I know this organization did very, very well bringing in the money.  I wish the suicide prevention group could have done so well this year..... Maybe it is a very good thing T is set to graduate this coming month, after all.  He was a rascal Friday night - didn't come home until almost morning.  I saw him when he walked in at 5:30AM and he appeared to be perfectly sober.  He also thinks because he's 18 he can do whatever he wants.  Not living here he can't.  Cell phone is turned off.  Now he's angry.  He just doesn't get it no matter how much we try and talk to him.  Oh well...... eventually he will.....
