Sudden and Major

Has anyone ever experienced a sudden exacerbation that left things WAY worse off than previously?  Was unconsciousness a factor?  This happened to me Friday on a Houston highway, and I woke up in a hopital an hour and a half later , thinking it was the middle of the night.  There was no accident, but apparently EMT's had to get me out ouf the car by destroying my passenger window.  I'm just trying to figure out whas happened.  Food might have been a factor, but I am walking around MUCH worse than previously.  "Really concerning" is a major understatement!
