Such amazing bravery
Sometimes as we go on with our lives and nothing much is happening, we forget to be thankful that nothing much is happening. I sit here and read so amazing stories of bravery from these very amazing people. So I kinda wondered how I wound up here. I have arthritis, a problem with my spine, a history of heart problems, type 2 diabetes on the way, if not here already. My problems with depression became evident in 1979 but I learned to cope. The stress level was so high at the time it was out of the charting limits. Now I set here and read your stories and I think that perhaps depression is just an ability to see reality in our daily lives. Without the faith in a higher power I have learned to lean on, it would be easy to go deeper into the pit of depression. There are so many bad things that happen that it easy to forget the good things happening right beside them. After my husband died, I was out to dinner with my son and his wife. I said, you know, I think I've had a pretty good life. My son said, Mom, most people would think your life was pretty bad. I had never thought of it that way. I had loved a man who loved me more than anyone on this earth. I had three wonderful children who survived both childbirth and childhood. I had many good friends, eventhough most left here before I did. I somehow my sense of humor got twisted enough to allow me to laugh at many things when I shouldn't have laughed at all. Lessons were learned, whether or not I wanted those particular lessons. As my Grandpa used to say, "may the Lord take a liking to me".
