Such a simple solution...
After suffering for 9 days... After coming home from PA with a sinus infection from cigarette smoke (no offense intended to smoker--I LOVE to smoke myself, I just haven't for 5 years)... My Mom suggested I put Vick's Vapor Rub in the half moon of my neck... I just cannot believe that after an entire bottle of cough medicine, after endless Benedril and Aleves, I have spent an entire evening BREATHING! The Vick's is even outdated (though I cannot imagine why that would matter)... I CAN BREATHE ONCE AGAIN!!! I know this will work all night, and I will not have to sleep with a cough drop in my mouth and worry about choking! Just thought I'd share this marvelous, cheap magick to everyone who reads this journal! ENJOY!!!

Brings back memories of my momma doing the same. She would rub it on, then safety pin a really warm washrag to my nightie. Moms are great, aren\'t they?

Yup, me too! I used to get lots of colds a a child; cannot TELL you the number of nights I was put to bed with Vapo-rub on my chest, and a towel wrapped over it. it is also great to help when you have to haul a stallion; put some in his nose; he can\'t smell, so he won\'t try to \"flirt\" with the mares or antagonize the males hauled with him.

angel Cj, we are so very happy and thankful that you are feeling better. :) Ever since i was a kid, Vick\'s vapo rub has always helped me, i put it on my neck, forehead, right under my nose above my top lips, and also on my chest, and it helps me feel better when i have a cold. When I had broncial/pneumonia this past Thanksgivin, I went to ER cuz I couldn\'t stop coughin long enough to breathe... They gave me shots & 2 different cough syrups & 2 antibiotics & 2 breathin treatments... I went home still coughin... My maw-maw rubbed Vics on my neck & upper part of my chest & the cough eased to the point that my chest could rest... I put some more on & slept for the night... LOVE VICS!!!
VICKS IS WHAT MY FOLKS USED ON US KIDS ALL THE TIME AND I USED ON MY OWN KID. I LUV UR INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE ABOVE. LOL....VICKS IS GREAT!!!!! I HEAR YA RE SMOKING...G AND I USED TO SMOKE,,,HE\'S GOTTEN PNEUMONIA 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 5 YEARS EVEN WITH A PNEUMONIA SHOT THAT\'S SPOSE TO LAST A LIFETIME...HA...DOESN\'T WORK..

i caught a cold while on the steriods....becuase i could not swallow ..hence the reason for the steriods...then was all stuffed up...was having a extremely rough time of it...could not breath..swallow nothing..off to the drug store i went..grin...bought one of the vicks vapor sticks that you use to inhale up the nose..grin..worked wonderfully..ahhhh was finally able to breath...and avoided going back to hospital...becuase of my seziure meds...high blood pressue meds...etc..i cant take any cold meds..grin..nothing for me is simple..heh heh..but the vapor rub is..grin..
oh and by the way..if you wish old fashioned remidies..grin...should have been around when my grandma used muster plasters...YUCK....rofl
