Success for others

Back in October, I was introduced to a young lady (24 years old) that had RA since early teens. A mutual friend got us together at a Halloween party and had told the college girl to discuss RA with me. So I told her my story with her parents both right there. Turns out her mother has celiac disease, so the family is over familiar with the philosophy that foods can be your enemy.

Well, the same mutual friend drove us both out to one of those TV horse trainer expos. So I asked college girl how it was going. She'd decided to eliminate all grains from her diet. It took three months to see effect, but now she's off all RA meds and in remission. She said her rheumy was critical but supportive if it kept her in control of it.

So we discussed the idea of allergy testing to really nail down the foods she should avoid. Turns out mutual friend (my age group) has also been having mild RA symptoms this year. She's been on plaquenal (sp?) But has observed increase in symptoms after certain types of meals. The med is not working well for her.

So they both said they were going to try and get food allergy tested this year to confirm what they are reacting too.

Looks like college girl is another supporting case for the hypothesis of food induced RA. I'm glad she finally feels good for the first time since childhood.
