Stuff til May 11th

I have to be off all my meds, except high blood pressure pills, at least 7 days before surgery.  I'mon two anti-depressants and those require long-term weaning.  I called my PCP to make an appt for a gameplan to get off them, especially since one is an XL formula and I can't cut those pills.
The dr's office refused to make an appt for this.  They said it was something my surgeon should be dealing with.  Since it had taken some doing to get my PCP to order me a baseline bone density scan (also something he thought the surgeon should do), I really shouldn't have been surprised.  But I was.  This is actually a really good dr who has dealt with me and depression since 1999, and knows my meds inside and out.  I have spent, maybe, 10 minutes with my surgeon to date.
Fuck.  I managed to wean myself off the one med.  Then I went to my pharmacist to see if he could do something to help me with the XL.  He said it wasn't the first time he had heard about the PCP vs Surgeon 'It's your job!  No, It's your job!' problem.  How terrible is that??  Anyways, he put together a plan for me and faxed a request to my PCP who deemed it 'perfect!' (I saw the return fax).
How fucked up is medicine in Ontario these days?? The WLS people (nut, social worker, etc) told us we all work as a team, including our family physician.  Since I am only my dr's second patient to go through this, he hasn't received that memo yet I guess.  (Yes, that was totally filled with sarcasm)
Anyways, I've done 3 weeks of nausea and headaches and I have 4 more weeks to go.  Ugh.  I guess this is what I get for not having morning sickness during pregnancy ;-)  I have found that I have to keep something in my mouth, like a cracker or salted soy nuts, pretty often to keep the nausea horrid taste in my mouth at bay.
The nausea is horrible and never ending.
The good thing is that I feel my energy returning.  I'm watching myself like a science project these days.  I'm wondering if the energy is from losing the meds, or fromSpring and longer days, or from the excitement of knowing I will soon have had the surgery...
Excuse me, I gotta go find some saltines....
