Stuck in Florida
Due to Hurricane Sandy, my flight home for today was cancelled. I am scheduled to come home tomorrow night. Thank goodness, Paul and David and the puppies are ok. No damage to my house and they still have power. Buddy did get lose last night when David went to take him out so David had to chase him for over 20 minutes during the storm. My mom, sister and one brother have no power and my my has trees down around her. Driving ban in Delaware I think was lifted today. David was off school yesterday and today. The pictures of New Jersey are incredible!!! (Z- I am praying you are ok!) Uncle Bill lives near Point Pleasant and did not evacuate, eventhough they were told to. Have not heard if he is ok. He is surrounded by water on 3 sides! Our cousin is a NJ police officer in Hamilton Township so waiting to hear from her if she can get hold of Uncle Bill. Sitting at my dad's and watching the Weather Channel. the damage is scary! Praying for all of my DS friends up North!
My mom is now at my other brother, Rob's, house as he has power and heat. He picked her up and bought her coffee. Thank you Rob! My mom is helping my sister in law and the kids (my little niece and nephew) carve pumpkins.
I had to call my boss yesterday and tell her about my flight being cancelled. We have over 200 catastrophe adjusters en route to assist with the influx of storm claims. I am dreading going home. I am worried I will not be able to drive due to my ankle. I feel out of the loop. I brought my personal laptop and phone but not my work laptop and phone. I have an appointment Thursday and Friday. Not sure if I will make them or not. (One is whacky customer who said the drycleaner faded all of his expensive suits, he is just looking for more money! And the other is a water claim I went to prior to vacation and showed up and the daughter answered the door and said "Oh, we need to cancel the appointment." She never called to reschedule in advance. I drove 1 hr each way to meet her!) Rude!
Ankle update: ankle is bad. I did get to the Florida Mall on Saturday and had a blast, although it was a little bit of a pain as my Dad and Shirley are friends with their pastor's wife and the pastor's daughter in law works for my dad. The two of them came with us. The pastor's wife must have been having a bad day and did nothing but complain all day and we sat around waiting for them over and over and over all day. I was SO exhausted when we got home. I probably should not have been on my feet at all, let alone all day!
I am going to have to go Thursday to the Dr and have my ankle checked and maybe xrayed. I sprained my ankle twice before and it was never this bad. Big huge purple bruise starts at the one side and goes all they way around and then radiates out to my toes. I have 2 toes that are purple. Still swollen a little. OK to walk but hurts to put shoes on (when I go to put my heel into shoes and have to wiggle a little to get heel in.) Bumped it this AM and OMG! Pain was bad.
I finished reading "The Home." Good thriller/scary book. No real bad words or blood guts or anything. I have now started reading "The Inheritance."
I miss my puppies!

In the light of the Sandy storm I am surprised you are getting a flight in on Wednesday even! Such a horrific storm...also hoping Zee is save!

I agree. It sounds like something worse than a sprain! Sorry for your pain. I\'m of course glad that damage wasn\'t too bad for you and that people are pulling together and helping one another! That\'s the only good part of this tragedy. It shows there are still some wonderful friends and neighbors.
