struggling

It has been an emotional few days.  We went to Edmonton to visit with Andrew and Tiina on Lisa's angelversary.  It was wonderful to be together with Andrew and getting serious bear hugs.  That was the upside.  The rest of the weekend was less than cheerful.

Andrew hurt his elbow and had a cortisone shot.  He was one of the patients who had a bad reaction.  He was in agony. He said it is easing up but still sorer than it was before the shot.

We visited Tiina's dad in the hospital.  We were lucky to be there with Tiina when the psychiatrist came in.  We got the scoop on his condition.  He has Lewey Body disease (a form of dementia) - it is more difficult to manage than Alzheimers.  The doctor was very patient and answered all Tiina's questions.  Tiina's mom is stressed as she needs a new car.  She bought one and was to pick it up yesterday.  Unfortunately her dad is accusing Sandy of stealing his money to buy a car (not the case) and gallivanting around spending his money.  This is not unusual behaviour for his condition but it is devastating for the family.

The saddest part of the weekend was a phone call from Lisa's best friend - a lady I adore.  I had tried calling her each time I was in Ottawa but she never responded.  Well she called on Monday evening.  Her son died of an overdose - a year ago.  She didn't call me as she said that I had my devastating sadness and this was hers.  I wish she had called sooner.   I would have been there for her.  I keep thinking that she must have missed Lisa terribly as they were confidants and were there for each other through thick and thin.

This getting old business is not great - it seems there is a lot more sad news than happy news.  If it weren't for the great grandies, I would be empty.

Not in the mood for Christmas.  We don't even know what we will be doing.  Perhaps going to Edmonton - or having dinner with our neighbours.  Or staying home and eating KFC.  I really do like KFC!

Wishing all my SOTH a peaceful Christmas filled with love and joy.

Lisa:  You are truly missed always.  I love you forever, Mummy

Marlene, you have shared a lot of bad news with those you love lately and I am sorry as I know this casts shadows on your spirit! It is hard not to absorb the sadness. Thank goodness for those beautiful babies that help bring you so much joy. I hope your holiday is everything you wished for us, Leda

Marlene,
I hear the sadness - you are so right, in that this getting older isn't for wimps! I can't seem to figure out if I just realize it more now or know I'm in the last half of my life, or if my heart is just more tender - but regardless of the reason, it sucks. Holidays have never really been a thing for me (except when Jennifer was little), but not everyone feels that way!! Every where I look, there's jolly, jolly jolly....SIGH

I hope Andrew's elbow gets better soon. It's terrible to hurt!! I am so thankful you have those babies - truly a ray of sunshine.

LISA LISA LISA, let your mum know you are here! Hugs and love, Vicki

My heart is with and feeling yours dearest Marlene, and you've been carrying your share of heaviness, no doubt. Feel it as you are and know that you are not alone in your struggles and this becomes a very private struggle for most of us yet by coming here and sharing we gain strength and courage from our soth.

Healing and peace to your BEing and I'll be listening to those birds as I walk as I have no doubt that Lisa has much to share.

Loving care and the tightest of heart (((hugs))) to Lisa's mummy from Douglas and me.

I've never heard about this particular form of dementia, yet wonder if that's not what my grandma may have had....she was forever accusing folks of stealing from her. She'd even hide her silverware (not even real silver) when guests would come over. She'd hide silly things too, like her shoes or hair brush or dish soap under the bed. It was "funny" and yet, not so much. Bless their poor hearts and confused minds. And bless those having to deal with it all. It's SO hard on the family.

I'm so very sorry to hear about another loss. And sad that his mom didn't feel she could reach out to you, that your burden was heavy enough without knowing about hers. What I've learned is the connected-ness (not sure that's a word but y'all know what I mean) and compassion we share as we grieve together is a great source of strength and healing. I pray for her shattered heart and hope she will open up to you more and more as she's able and perhaps even find her way here one day. No matter the source, I pray she finds what offers her the most help during this seemingly impossible time in her life. God bless her~

We have two Christmases to attend with family, which I am looking forward to, mostly.....but KFC sounds good to me too!!

Tight heart hugs beautiful friend as we make our way through this season one more time~

Hello Marlene, you have had so much sadness to deal with recently. I'm sorry to hear Andrew is hurting. I hope he is feeling much better,

How sad about Lisa's friend's son! I wish she would have reached out to you. We know so well how another mom can gives us the understanding no one else in this world can. I'm so very sorry to hear of another mom experiencing this tragedy.

May your Christmas be gentle. Love to you and dearest Lisa from Ed and me.

I hate to hear of loss of what is going on. I am not looking forward to what Mike will be like. He is a peace of work, some days are weird. I am as patient as I can be, but loose it now and again. My daughter doesn't understand how important it is for him to feel as independent as possible.

Omg its so crazy what you have gone through..
Im actually speechless..

Its taken a while just staring at this post to begin to write something ..

Your one of the nicest & kindest souls ever...

You stay so strong, and you have always been a massive inspiration to me & God knows how many more because you are the kind of soul who helps sooo many others..

I wish I could send you all the love in the world right now,

I just have to say a massive prayer for you tonight after I tell them off first because this is too much.
That's why I'm still in shock & my words just won't come out...

I'm going to ask every Angel to comfort you
And the entire heaven if need be.
You have always been there for others
Now it's you that needs comfort from everyone...

I know no words can change the situations you been going through lately..
& I know how deeply you feel for those you care for,

so im hoping with all my Heart that you receive so much care, hugs & love to comfort you through such devastating times.. Xxx xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Oh I really should wear my glasses...

Because I was reading rememberkala journal and thought it was her journal when I pressed on the commentary..

So please hope you forgive the confusion...
I'm also on Gabopentin at the mo
So sometimes bit disoriented

But this is still so sad
You really have gone through so much...

I will still pray for you and ask angels to comfort you...

If your a friend of 'rememberkala" you must be a nice person...
And I feel gutted to see any good soul go through so much...

Christmas just comes & goes anyway
What's important is that you do whatever feels right for yourself in order to get yourself through all this...

Sending you love & hugs xxx xxx
