Struggling
Wow, I was really struggling tonight. I finally had some money in my pocket and all I could think about was going to the liquor store. I ended up spending several hours typing out my story to share with someone on DS and man was it helpful! I feel so much better. After remembering all the horrible things that have happened, I have like zero desire to go out and drink. Remember where we came from!

good one.I been there many times.ready to open the liquor store door and get poisoned.
good choice
That\'s awesome, Chris. Don\'t just commit to memory how hard it was to stay sober, but remember how you felt the next day after making it through a tough night. I almost drank last week and didn\'t - I feel SO grateful that I survived. It always reminds me those tough times do pass. Keep up the good work.
HTL that is a good one! Keep that last drunk fresh, Chris. Meetings and working with other recovering alcoholics helps a whole lot.
Thats wonderful!! Keep up the good work!
awesome chris!!! you can do this!
Hi Chris. That\'s awesome that you resisted. I used to \"joke\" with my counsellor that my car must have been an alcoholic, because everytime I drove past a liquor store or supermarket, I would suddenly find myself in the carpark. Seriously it totally felt like that, like I had no control at all. And occasionally I still get that feeling. My wife enjoys the very occasional glass of wine so sometimes there is a wine bottle in the fridge. It used to bother me but no longer. Or so I thought. The other day I was home alone for the night, and I opened the fridge only to see an open bottle of wine right in front of me. I actually found myself reaching for it automatically, totally subconsciously, before my conscious kicked in and regained control. And I think that for me is the key. I now treat my alcoholism as if it is a separate entity which I have to be on guard for and resist its every attempt to get me drunk. Wow - not sure how I ended up here when all I was going to say was well done. What you achieved here is all you have to keep doing!
