Struggle
One thing I am finding out business wise is that there are alot of people who expect alot more for alot less. About a month ago, I gave someone a great deal by charging them just a little over costs and doing some custom cutting for him as well and he still complained! Said I cut the pieces too long and now he has to cut them the right length.
So I explained to him that I am not set up to cut exact lengths because my saws are not accurate, they are hand me downs from my dad and are old. I just cut them as a free service but it's always over the finish length and the customer cuts to fit. He still complained and wants me to pay him to cut his own wood but I won't so I am not going to answer him back.
He probably wants money for Christmas! My high end lumber isn't getting a very high price which makes me tend to believe people are just not spending money this year, not yet anyway.
In my last journal I spoke about my living situation and I know it sounds bad but it actually works out for both of us. I get to stay here in the same home I've been in for over 20 years and run my business out of my shop out back. That was one of the stipulations in the divorce decree also, at the time of the divorce.
I ran 2 miles in the afternoon and it felt good, but I had forgotton to take my depression pil today and had those severe feelings of loss and isolation. When I came back from town, I immediately took it. Just starting to feel better.
I pray alot and it helps. I know life can be sometimes rough for many of us and that's why we need each other to help us over the potholes in the road of life. :)

As long as your living situation works for you, is what counts. Good wood is expensive. The prices people pay for things made out of flake board amazes me.
This is working for you and you are okay with how you are living. That\'s all that matters. Don\'t do any favors because you are pricing yourself too cheaply and its not appreciated.
I used to cut my boarding prices and it didn\'t help me at all. In fact it caused me problems that I don\'t need.Yes its better to cut your lumber a little long than take a chance on it being short. You need to put that statement where your customers can read it.
i sure know what you mean about customers!!..i own 2 businesses and get the same problems with them..or i find that people i have met twice thinks i am their friend when they know i have pizza bars...stay strong..hope you have a good week.

At one time I had my ex-husband and my e-boyfriend living with me in a one bedroom apartment - neither one worked and had no where to go, so they took turns on the coach and the chair while I slept in my king sized bed lol. thankfully that time is over.
