Stress City
Hubby and I get along very well -- always have except when it comes to the kids. He is so laid back and concerned more about their feelings than anything else. It puts a wedge between us because he doesn't make me feel like we are partners in this. Whenever I try and talk to my son, he interferes -- it's as if I have two kids -constantly correcting me or siding with our son. It is so strange because all the classes and group sessions we've been in he just doesn't see what he's doing. I have built up so much resentment toward him and my son that sometimes I think I need to just throw up my hands and let it be. My husband is an optimist (I am too) but I am also a realist. He doesn't seem to see the reality of what we are dealing with and it is so uncomfortable for me. We are not at the point where we can totally trust our son and, unfortunately, - even if our son believes what he's saying - my husband seems convinced that everything is going to be okay. And it might be.....but I cannot let my guard down completely - whereas my hubby....... Well....let's just say it makes me sick to my stomache. Unfortunately, my husband refuses to go to therapy. I lit into him on the way home form our family group "therapy" because of the way he placates to our son and minimizes my role as a parent. He told me thing were going to change a week ago - but how can they when he doesn't even see it. I know I am not perfect by any stretch of the imagination - which is why we need to talk to someone to see how we can improve. Having said all that - when T is released from treatment - maybe it won't be as bad as I am anticipating it will be. T thought he was going to be released early......right around the 4th, in fact. His young counselor put the bug in his ear that he might be (despite my reservations) but his case worker and PO both put a stop to that, I found out last night. Thank goodness. I am not ready for him -- especially since I'm going to be busy working the carnival booth for Suicide Prevention all week and being that it's a holiday week......it would not have been a good idea. This coming week last year is when all hell broke loose....

I guess your husband is very vulnerable and when T disappoints him again he is going to be in some real pain; I think different from the way the rest of the family will be. Maybe he is optimistic because his mother lived to turn her life around? Do what you can for yourself and hopefully he will get on board with you at some point in the future. I am thinking of you! Take Care!!!
