Strength training after one week
Ok. Its been a week, and I have completed 3, 40 minute, very easy looking workouts. the trick with being on prednisone is to know when is enough, when is too much. So from the myositis conference PT powerpoint, the suggestion was a needed recovery by late the next day after the work out. That was a decent expectation, along with improved function after the first 2 weeks. Then daily improvements after that. So it's good to see that I can take food out of the fridge, even open the fridge, take soup out of the microwave, and lift my legs over the tub without help. All good. My PT promises that once I have core stability, she'll get me on a bike. The big area to get up to speed are hips and groin muscles, some hamstrings and glutes. These were the first muscles to get attacked, and the last to get better, or so I hear..... The hardest part of each day is waking up and realizing that everyone I know is hopping up, eating, doing personal care, and working, and not having to plan energy expenditures. That will be me soon !!!
