strange
We received a notice from the department of motor vehicles addressed to T. T doesn't even have his driver's temp/permit so what could this be about? It was a notice indicating that he cannot apply for a permit or license since there is a warrant for his arrest in another part of our state. What? My husband immediately called T to ask him about it and he said he was cited for having an open container a few months ago and didn't realize he had to show up in court. In fact, he was under the impression that it was only a warning. He told the officer that he lived too far away to make it back to court so the officer told him he could just pay the fine. Well, T told us that the officer didn't write what the fine was so he assumed it was okay. He wasn't arrested or anything. We looked it up on-line and sure enough - cited for an open container. He was supposed to appear in court a little over a month ago. It was one of those college visits he made we weren't thrilled about.
Well, what I find strange is they have his birth date posted on the site - yet he was just charged with an open container (beer) and yet he's underage. Maybe because it's a college town and it's impossible to arrest every kid? I don't know. It's just weird. My son broke the law and the officer let him go. T told me that he was honest and respectful to the policeman which is why he let him off easy. My son - always the charmer. I don't know what time of the night it was but it's good to know he wasn't drunk. All I know is he's been doing very well lately - so this latest thing isn't throwing me off.
Not sure what is going to happen now. His juvenile record isn't closed yet and won't be for another year and it's going to $ cost.
