Storm Clouds Rolling In....

I am numb and speechless right now.  This morning was a disaster.  I spoke to the kids' caseworker early this morning and he said he felt confident that this was an open and shut case.  It ended up being nothing of the sort.  This is the second week of being a judge for the judge who heard the case.  The caseworkers said that it was apparent that he didn't look through the file and knew nothing of the parents' history.  He did not allow the caseworkers to present their cases and only allowed the attorneys to state where they thought placement would best be.  The parents (dad was there too- why he was allowed to get out of jail for the hearing, I have no idea) want the kids to be placed in Little Rock Arkansas.  The judge thought it absurd considering the reason they were objecting to our home was because it is a 35 mile drive from the city the mom lives in, but that sending the kids to Arkansas (remember, we're in Wisconsin) was ridiculous.  The judge set a new court date for SEPTEMBER 21ST!!!!  The relatives that the kids are living with are even more upset than we are, considering that they requested that the kids be removed back in MAY!  They are closing on a house on Friday and will be moving in with their parents as they remodel their new place and can't keep the kids after the end of this month.  The caseworkers are going to try to do an emergency placement at our house or set us up as respite caretakers so that the move can actually take place.... but we don't know when.
The parents SUCK!!  We learned today that the kids spent many nights sleeping in parks, in cars, and at one point the mom asked a woman from her aunt's church to watch the kids- a woman that her aunt said she barely knew.
So..... we wait.  We have the kids right now for a visit, and were asked to continue with them until placement.  So we are glorified babysitters right now.
First obstacle of the week has brought the first bought of rain in the form of a storm.... so now we wait to see if the storm continues or if a rainbow will come.....  Pray for a rainbow...

Ewwww. That just sucks! I am so sorry. It doesn\'t sound like the judge was considering what was in the best interest of the children. That is very unfortunate. I am so sorry. I hope the storm clouds pass quickly and the sun begins to shine and a rainbow appears... Good luck. Sending good thoughts your way. xoxo

I\'m so sorry!!! And I know how you feel...dealing with the stupid court system is such a pain. And it sounds like those kids have a stupid judge. :( I was so hoping you would get a good one! I\'ll keep praying! Hang in there.

I am so sorry! I deal with child protective services & judges all the time that miss taking the opportunities to really make the difference for the children I work witb. It is frustrating to say the least. I was suprised it looks like the system is allowing a bond between you & those kids. It makes me excited for all of you, that you can start a future now, but I also worry about the heart ache for all if it doesn\'t. I want to say be patient, but I don\'t know your system there & I agree that is just seems crazy what they are doing!
I wish there were more to say than, \"IT SUX & IT ISN\'T FAIR!!!\"
I still hold out hope these little ones will soon be a part of your loving home!
I am sending extra prayer of courage & peace to get through this with your heart in as few pieces as possible, and maybe abundantly full!!!
