Controlling Alcohol Consumption

Make no mistakes about it, alcohol is a toxin and so it is very important that if you do decide to eat this, that you do so at a regulated, carefully tracked and accountable manner so as to make sure that you can appreciate its benefits without placing yourself in any given amount of imminent danger.

There has been a substantial quantity of research conducted into the long term effects and consequences of alcohol abuse and the conclusions reached are very sobering indeed. Alcohol plays a major contributing element in many different serious health ailments such as liver and kidney failure in addition to diabetes, heart disease and strokes and all of the health ailments affect not just the drinker, but the health system as a whole.

In Britain alone it's variously estimated that alcohol finally ends up costing the NHS (National Health Service) #3 billion to provide care for people with both acute and chronic health complaints concerning alcohol.

Part of the problem is that many of us have been led to believe that in small quantities, alcohol is healthy and therefore great for all of us. It must be noted that these projected values are VERY little, and are required to be consumed over a lengthy period of time in a controlled way rather than binge drinking.

Furthermore, it might seem that the health advantages related to alcohol relates solely to certain types of alcohol and in addition, only to certain types of individuals as well. Therefore, to utilize the assumed health benefits of alcohol as a pretext and license to then consume it indiscriminately is neither fair nor reasonable in the circumstances.

As briefly touched upon before within the article, among the possible effects of chronic alcohol ingestion, where the ingestion exceeds the amounts safely recommended by medics, is liver failure. Specifically, chronic alcohol abuse may lead to the development of what is known as "cirrhosis" of the liver, and this also refers to the procedure where the liver becomes damaged and scarred over a time period.

What makes this so concerning is the fact that the normal, ordinary cells of the liver will slowly but surely be killed off due to the toxic nature of the alcohol that's being regularly ingested and in their place, fibrous tissue will start to form. This approach is permanent and consequently can't be reversed.

Once the injury to the liver brought on by the cirrhosis procedure reaches a certain degree, the individual is going to need to then get a liver transplant otherwise, they will die. Without being overly dramatic or political, if there's a single fact about liver failure you need to understand, then it would be this: it is a slow, agonising and incredibly cruel death.

The liver is the filtering unit of the body, removing toxins and impurities from the food we eat and drink so the body is able to use it securely and economically. Together with the liver failing to achieve its simplest function, this means that your system will find its various functions shutting down simultaneously.
