stomach issues continue, sore cuticles
Well, we cut my steroid down to 8 mg last Friday. I have been on Nexium for "gastritis" since last Wednesday. While I think the Nexium has helped some with the intense pain I was having right after eating, I continue to have a lot of bloating in my stomach. I can only eat small portions of food and even at that, I look about 4 months pregnant. It gets extremely uncomfortable by the end of the day and I feel that some of the "pain" in my stomach (I can pinpoint the exact spot that hurts) is returning. My GP and rheum think its from the steroids and so they are hoping that cutting back on the steroid and with starting the Nexium my stomach issues will get better but I havent noticed much difference yet. I am scheduled with a GI doc on Oct 14th.
I have also noticed since cutting back my steroid that my cuticles are super sensitive. They have been all a long but seemed like maybe they were getting a bit better but not anymore. :(
I am also still having pain in my upper arms and things. Not as much as a month ago for sure but its still there and still a problem. I have also begun to feel more tired lately but maybe thats just from trying to do too much.
I am feeling very frustrated at this point.

Angie, boy can I identify with the sore cuticles. Seems my hands were terrible but have cleared up a lots as I\'m sure yours will too. I\'m glad you\'re going to see the GI doctor on the 14th and the nexium is helping somewhat. Your really haven\'t been on it that long yet so I\'d give it a bit more time to work. Hang in there - it\'s almost like being a medical researcher with this disease! It is very frustrating, I hear you. Sounds like they need to tweek your meds - I am on pred/cellcept and that helped my arms/legs. I am lung dominant, so mine is a little different. I am weaning off the pred and the arms/legs weakness/ache is coming back but figure it\'s steriod withdrawl and not a flare. Sorry about the GI issues, I am glad the Nexium is helping and I feel like I\'m pregnant too!

Oh Angie do I ever understand! My stomach too is very bloated and gassy all the time. Are you on Methotrexate too? I\'m the same with the cuticles, they were better then bam, they feel like a million little paper cuts as Maruska says.. I\'m praying for you too honey.

Thanks everyone. :) No, I havent started methotrexate yet. I see my rheumatologist again on oct. 4th and we are suppoed to talk about starting that at that appointment. I\'m not looking forward to that either.
