Stir the pot and something will float up

Since my partner's mother was transferred to the rehab things have not been as great as it seemed they would be when we chose the place.  Some of the points are given below. They were told she does not eat beef or pork.  So they brought her meals of beef or pork and when she said she does not eat them, the main dish was removed (not replaced) and she was left with the side dishes for her meal.  This is a woman with severe malnourishment as a reason she is there. We provided bottled water, a BPA-free sippy cup for the water, and a carton of soy milk for her because she does not like or trust the tap water and she does not drink regular milk.  So they keep setting the water bottles aside in favor of their tap water-filled pitcher, the sippy cup is lost, and they bring her 2% milk with her meat meal. She is terrified of falling and this includes sliding off the bed.  Bed rails have been requested by her and us.  They placed a mat next to her bed as a cushion in case she does fall out and keep her bed as low as it will go.  So low that her bed tray is far above her.  You know, the one with the meat meal and 2% milk that she now cannot reach.  They placed the food there and left her to fend for herself.  I personally witnessed this one day when we were there. They were told she has sensitive skin and provided a mild body wash for her.  She couldn't bath herself so they had to do it.  Instead of the soap we provided, they use their own and she has a rash from it. In keeping with the sensitive skin issue, we told them we would do her laundry.  When they change her clothes, the old ones go right on the floor of her wardrobe, no bag or box or anything. On Mother's Day they had a lunch for the patients and their families.  We learned of it after it was over.  Nobody said a thing to us or her.  They did wheel her into the dining room before we arrived, then left her there for an hour (her estimate) after she'd asked them to take her back to her room. A couple of days ago, my Beloved had had enough.  She wrote up 3 pages of notes for herself and paid a visit to their social worker.  Next thing she knew, he had her notes and wanted to pass them around to the directors.  Now we have a meeting with the Director of Nursing Monday to discuss the changes to be made over the next few days. And there have been changes.  She is now getting her bottled water and soy milk, her meals are vegetarian, and she is being positioned so she can eat comfortably without spilling her food all over herself.  They have brought her magazines and Reader's Digest to pass her time.  We'll see what else has been done on the visit today. The impression I get is that management's oversight slipped and things got sloppy.  Nobody complained, so management had no reason to suspect anything was amiss.  Since management didn't say anything, the people doing the work had no reason to believe they were doing anything wrong (I realize that requires a discounting of personal ethics, but that's another topic).  So shoddiness continued; the customers/patients accepted it for the reasons sheeple have; and management sat content, satisfied and oblivious in their ivory tower, secure in the knowledge that all was well.  Until the pot was stirred and the crap floated into view.  There is a saying in the lightworkers' community, "Shift happens."  Well, it is happening at the Citadel Care Center now.  And I'm betting more people than my Beloved's mother are benefiting.
