Still trying to recover
I can't believe I've had this cold for this long and I still don't feel like myself yet. I really got flattened!I thought I'd caught it on the weekend of the 6th/7th but I guess the sore throat etc. were just warning signs....I truly came down with it last Tuesday and then WHAM! I got slammed!I cannot remember the last time I got sidelined by a COLD for a week. I'm usually like every other mother that doesn't get to take time off for something as simple as a cold...I keep soldiering on and function anyway, kleenex in pocket, lozenges in purse and I'm set. A little extra vitamin C and I'm back to fighting condition. Not this time. It's just an indication of how worn out I've become and how stressed I have been when a simple cold virus can take me out like this. I feel like such a wimp!I have barely functioned for a week now, making small forays into the kitchen to tidy dishes, make simple meals or heat cans of food and twice I've done laundry but with help from the kids because I get woozy or dizzy if I move too quickly or stay on my feet for too long. What a light weight! On Sunday I really thought I'd turned a corner....and I do think I did, I'm not as bad as last week when I really couldn't raise my head off the pillow for long. My congestion was breaking up and I could feel some energy coming back. I enjoyed the feeling and was careful not to overdo.Yesterday I did a few things, nothing major, laundry, again with some assistance and spaced out over time. No signs of problems. But then I woke today feeling like I took at least one or two steps backward! ARGH!!!!I am not used to this! I have been a single parent for 16 years. That means I am extremely used to relying on myself and being capable of functioning thru everything! This is SOOOO frustrating! There I've had my little rant...I've vented. I think I feel better. Thank you to anybody who read this for listening.
