Still struggling to breathe,no choice but to rest up
Good morning journal, the time is now 7:46am,I have been awake fully for around two hours but there were periods in the night when I was awakened by bouts of coughing and unable to breathe. Finally,I gave up trying to get back to sleep and got out of bed and I have spent the majority of my time since trying to clear my airways of phlegm and mucus,so much so,that I have been physically sick twice, and as I type,I am still very short of breath and my body is slick with sweat just with the sheer effort of trying to breathe unaided.I came here because seeing my thoughts in black and white usually has a soothing effect on me and I'm hoping for the same result this morning,I have hot coffee to hand, and I'm looking out of our large lounge window into our front garden where the sun is,for the moment, shining brightly, while the ground still glistens with the wetness and the aftermath of the storms of yesterday.I regret to say that I have still been unable to see my doctor as yet,I called yesterday but he had a full appointment book,I was offered the opportunity to see one of the junior partners but opted to wait and try again Monday morning.I just can't be bothered trying to explain my symptoms to a physician who doesn't know me from Adam whereas my doctor knows me better than I know myself sometimes.I also had the opportunity whilst I was on the telephone to speak to sister Reilly who informed me that the results of my last blood work were to hand,my blood sugar count is still high despite the introduction of metformin in an effort to control my diabetes,so we agreed to increase the dose from twice a day to three times to see if that makes a difference. The inhalers that I have, whilst proving effective in the past, are now proving less beneficial for me at this present time,it is a concern for me that this could mean that my COPD has progressed somewhat,or,it could just simply be the added effects of the cold I still have and am seemingly unable to get rid of.This morning,I feel very weak physically, and I have tremors in both arms and legs and I am hoping that the cold I have is simply that,a cold with no other complications lurking furtively in the background, for I know only too well from my past history where that can lead, and I don't honestly know if I am strong enough to survive another sustained bout of pneumonia or pleurisy right now.Having said that though,my breathing has slowed somewhat, possibly the soothing effects of the hot coffee warming my chest and the healing qualities of my inhaler, which is finally beginning to kick in after four attempts.Today,I am left with no choice but to try to keep any exertion to the absolute minimum, try and get to Monday morning and hopefully get to see my doctor, and see where we go from there, that's the plan anyway.I've managed to towel myself dry, though I am still sweating profusely,it at least doesn't feel that I've just walked straight out of the shower anymore, but I'll keep the towel handy just in case.Any other news?,well the voices that I,and I alone, hear are still speaking to me but I am no longer afraid of them,in fact they are fast becoming a source of great comfort to me,now that I have finally identified who they are I see no reason to doubt their intentions towards me and I quite look forward to our little conversations. How can a person with a faith as great as mine fear speaking with people from the Bible?,I know some people will think I've finally lost the plot, but to me,these voices,or rather the people they belong to,are very real, and I have no doubt as to their authenticity;quite how my doctor, therapist or psychiatrist will feel is,quite honestly, irrelevant to me,my faith in my Father in Heaven is unshakeable so I see no reason why He shouldn't send someone from His book to speak with me,for me it's that simple. Now I begin to tire journal, and it is time for me to be away from here to rest and recuperate a little,so,until next time, may the peace and love of God walk with us,and a time of easier breathing wouldn't be unwelcome either.
