still sick since tuesday night//i'm very grouchy &watching christmas movies

have a cold or flu, been sick since tuesday night.  good thing we had dinner then because by 11 p.m. tuesday, i was genuinely sick and on the way to worse.  what a weird christmas.  don't know when i was sick on christmas last, i think about ten years ago, but not sure.  the weather is perfect though.  been in the 80's all week!  yay!   watching christmas vacation and feeling grouchy - can't tell if i like anything this year.  i keep falling asleep during the christmas movies.  they were showing its a wonderful life on a large screen at a cinema and planned to go and then got this.  one of the guys and his kids were sick, which gave it to me and another guy at work.  grrrrr.

can't keep anything down properly without troubles.  had some ham and can eat green beans.  had chowder but that didn't go well.  can't have anything with dairy in it, not even biscuits.  k made cheese biscuits from red lobster - fabulous - and had to make them twice because the dogs got a hold of them when we left the room for five minutes.  seriously.  so i have some of those and pumpkin bread in a baggy.  can also eat pop corn without any trouble.  at the moment vacation seems dumb and i usually enjoy it.  wth?  saw christmas in connecticut (1940) when at timeshare, its my fave, it was still good - but wasn't sick yet.  no one is home anyway.   clark's wife is saying, its christmas, let the misery begin.  lmao.    hope i get to go to cvs later, i love their sales for christmas, but i doubt i'll be up for it.  stopped at walmart because target didn't have anything i needed, just like t-day.  walmart was mobbed.

finishing off sweet caroline which seems sad.  awful lot of death and superficiality and melodrama - or i just think that because i'm grouchy right now.   most of it i've read before.  this is the first year i didn't put up lights, just wreathes and the lawn, limbs and gates are done.  yay!   this is also the first year i didn't send cards, though if there are cards at the other address i'll send cards.   one of our neighbors put up a full tree outdoors, and its completely lit up like an indoor tree.  would love to do that one year!  love it!
amazing how much christmas has changed.  i hope its shifting back to more nativity fast/advent which is the point of it anyway.  purification of body and mind - in usa it became all gifts and buying, for many years and a celebration of capitalism, which it isn't in other countries, just here.  there are articles now on "taking the family out of christmas" after they pushed it to become this for what, fifty years now?  whatever.  royelle's mother was in, she says her mother spends the entire time drinking and smoking until she passes out, and everyone is like, why bother?  and she's like, she's my mother.  her aunt as well became a crack/pot addict after turning 40 and finally returning to college, like she did her "youth" in her 40's after her divorce.  but your body can't survive that in your 40's and she was gone by her late 50's.  its very sad.  she went from totally conservative her entire life to that, after her kids were grown and gone, at least they didn't see much of it.  she also lost everything because she had no idea how to manage money after being a housewife for 20 years.  she used to insist she was the one who managed their checking account and bills when married and everyone would say, if that is true, why couldn't you do it later?  and the common argument with that one is her husband gave her a set amount to buy things and kept monies separate for different things, she wasn't actually "managing" anything.  and then you shut the door and let them keep at it until one of them leaves.  lol.   she used to be j's favorite aunt growing up and more stable than his mother who just drinks and smokes a lot, j was horrified when she did a total about face with her life and herself.   his father is gone too now, a lot of hard partiers in that family - so earlier deaths.  a lot of former hippis.
at work, the old guy's wife was by all dressed for christmas, red jacket with a corsage, he worked christmas eve (his choice as another guy who is Buddhist actually wanted the hours) i think the old guy was trying to avoid going to something, and used the office as an excuse.  wonder if she knows that he didn't have to be there at all?
