Still running down this unexpected path!
It's been 3 months since my last entry and I don't visit DS much anymore. Still, every now and then I think back to the strength I derived from reading messages written by others who were further along in their journey and I feel compelled to share my story with others who are new to grief. It was important for me to set a goal early on so that I had something tangible to work on. The rest of life seemed so out of my control that it was important to find something I could control that would be a positive in my life. I set the goal of running a marathon, based primarily on the fact that Jeff had vowed to run a marathon by age 50, but did not meet the goal and died early of a heart attack. This weekend I ran my 7th half marathon and I ran a full marathon two years ago. To make it even sweeter, this marked the 4th half marathon I've run with Tim and we always finish together. In fact, one of the reasons we first started talking on DS is that he saw my marathon goal and, having run a marathon himself before, offered some training advice and encouragement. The metaphors are numerous and would get much too sappy, but to suffice it to say, I've found my running partner for the rest of my life. I love you, Tim, and I thank God for every day I get to spend with you!
