Still On The Program
I've pushed down another 5 pounds.... Now total lost is 31 pounds. I was trying a liquid diet but I was not able to do the liquid diets... My sugars kept going low and then I'd over eat... but I've been doing better on a combination. I won't have a choice after the surgery but to be on a liquid diet for several weeks...
I need to go to the bariatric group and ask the members how they handled the low blood sugars... Its pretty scary when my sugar goes low... I feel kind of like a fish out of water... flopping on the beach gasping for air... I get hot flashes like and my heart beat seems irregular and so weak I can hardly get around... I usually manage to get around and get myself something but a couple of times I don't know what would have happened if Richard had not have been here to bring me some juice... I do that for him all the time as he's a brittle diabetic and subject to his sugar going low often but I've never had that much of a problem before... I am hoping that the way this has gone may be an indicator that I'll be one of those lucky folks who's diabetes will go into remission after my surgery...
I've been doing the liquids for my snacks so lowered the calories there... bullion and sugar free popsicles pretty much for my snacks and actually about every other day I do a sandwich... whole wheat bread, mustard and ham... I keep wondering about the ham... the package says its only 70 calories for a slice... and since my bread is 50 calories per slice and I use mustard that's a total of 170 calories and then I do a cup of bullion beef or chicken calories are like 0 to 5 so not worried about that... then I have my lean cuisine type meal once a day... that runs between 250 to 300 and breakfast is a protein drink or sugar free oatmeal and whole wheat toast with a thin spread of peanut butter... Anyway that's my diet right now. I am going to have to get back to doing the protein drink... truth is I feel so hungry after it... LOL but I do need the protein... I'm supposed to be doing the protein drinks for my snacks... but they are 140 calories so I usually don't...
Going to the heart doctor Tuesday. Hopefully he'll do whatever he needs to do and set me up with a date for the bypass... I'm worried though that what he'll actually do is a minimum type visit and make me run down to Slidell a few times for various testing... this sucks as its a 2 hour drive one way... Its frustrating... Baton Rouge is the capitol of Louisiana but they don't have the surgery available here that my insurance will cover... oh well what can't be changed...
I'm glad that God is giving me the strength to keep working toward my weight loss goal. Its been quite awhile since I was willing to try... I do get tired of failing... Thank you very much to friends and family for your support. Hugs Elissa

Wow! 31 lbs is great! I hope that things progress like you want and that you will be able to have your surgery. Love and hugs...Karen
You can do it and are doing it! Way to go and take gentle, gentle care as you embark on this.
Thinking of you and hope you hear my cheering from the sidelines!
