Still Focused in spite of things
Got in just a tad over 10,000 steps on Friday. Saturday was just over 12,000. Yesterday was just over 10,000. So I am doing well there. Yeah me! Eating is much better. I have been increasing my water (really anything is better than before.) Interesting tidbit: at Bed Bath & Beyond, they were like $1. They were these ice cube trays, blue, that make long skinny ice cubes for your water or sport bottle. They fit through the small round top! So now when my water sits for a while and starts to go warm, I just plop one or two of those in and I am good to go! (I use filtered water.) Mother's Day was awful. But I am over it. On the way to church, Paul starts in (with David in the back seat) about how we (Paul and I) need to make a decision about David and karate. Paul just really pisses me off about this whole thing. Think back when you were a kid. Heck, think back to now! How do you feel when someone tells you that you HAVE to do something? You don't want to do it! This is what we go through with my son, daily. WE have to stop making decisions for him. And Paul's motivation is ALWAYS about money. If it is $2000 to to to regular karate 1 day per week + 1 day of Haidong Gumdo (Korean sword art) for 1 year, and $2400 for 2 years of 2 days per week of karate and 1 day of Haidong Gumdo, which would you chose? This to me is a no brainer. For $400 more, we get two years and extra classes. Problem is, sometimes it is not good to go to karate 3x per week. So I say to Paul, "SO????" So some weeks he only goes 2x! What's the big deal. It works out cheaper this way anyway? His response? If we pay for 3x per week, then he HAS to go 3x per week so we get our money's worth. Since when does deciding what is best for my son have to do with getting our money's worth? You know what? The state pays for David's medical, no copays. They also pay for his counseling. So we pay for food and clothes and karate. Big whoop! There are people out there who get a 2nd mortgage just to send their kids to private school! So Paul now has to go in and talk to Master Berry to see if he can "negotiate" him down. Otherwise David has to chose karate or Haidong. WHY IS THIS FAIR! Ugh! So David starts getting mouthy in the back seat. And I just sit in church just mad. We get home and my Aunt and Mom come over for the day and for dinner. I am very close to my mom. Thank God she is understanding. But Paul and David just yelled and screamed at each other all day. I tried to ignore it. I even tried a few times to refereee. It was bad. Mean and hurtful things got said all day. I was so embarrassed and hurt. My mom never said a word. Not saying Paul was right, but David just shut down. Refused to do anything he was told. Here, he forgot to take his 2nd dose of medicine, which was part of the problem. Also found wrappers all over- candy, cookies, Tastykakes! Man, the kid was really sugared up to boot and I didn't realize. My mom and I watched "Seven Pounds" with Will Smith. Very good movie. You will not understand it until the end. Just keep watching! And have a box of tissues handy. So the good thing, after my mom left and David went to bed, I was so pissed, I went for a long 40 min walk with the dog. Which in turn got me over the 10,000 steps. I am off work today. Read a few chapters in my book- "Nineteen Minutes" by Jodi Piccoult. A little disturbing, but good book. Also, Paul and I emptied out the sunroom of the 5 zillion plants, and the wicker furniture. Swept it. Now I helped Paul set up the scaffolding so he can spackle and paint. Hooray! We moved here going on 5 years and that room hasn't been painted since the house was built 18 years ago. It has terra cotta colored tile and 18 ft ceiling in the middle and the main wall is all windows all the way up and then windows all around. I am going to paint it yellow. Paul is going to buy me a new digital camera. Then I can snap some new pictures. And my bathroom is all spacked and ready to be painted. And that hasn't bee done since the house was built as well. And I also took the dog for a 20 min walk today. I will go out for another later, and maybe some Wii Fit. Need to go eat some fruit now.
