still coughing
Its only been a few days since I went to the doctor and I am feeling a little bit better. But still coughing really hard despite sucking on sugar free cough drops. The coughing scares me the most because it flares up the pleurisy really quick. That hurts so bad when it flares up that even the slightest cough sends me into panic mode. Of course I have been coughing so much that my sides hurt, my throat hurts, and I have a huge headache. At least my munchkin doesn't feel that bad and this virus he brought home didn't effect him like it did me. I've also noticed today that I am hurting everywhere so bad. I first thought it was my blood sugar numbers being really high and when I tested them they were about 160 which is high but not enough to make me hurt like I am right now. My husband is on his way to Washington state where he will drop a load and then pick up another load that is going to Alaska. I'm kind of a little nervous about that trip considering that he doesn't like driving on icy road conditions. Of course I don't know many truckers that like to drive on icy roads. I think it's just that Alaska seems like a far away country. I'm excited for him because he will get to see new things but it is scary at the same time.
I'm also getting nervous for my first consult with the surgeon on Monday. I need to fill out my paper work, gather my questions and pack a bag because we are going up one day early with my sister and she is going to keep my little guy occupied while I am in with the surgeon. Each little thing that I do is a step closer to the surgery and the surgeon I chose is very careful and involved with his patients. At the seminar he stated that he wants his patients in a place where they will be able to move and exercise after the surgery, while he doesn't expect huge workouts they need to be able to walk at least 100 feet. If a patient cannot walk that far then he will put them in some physical therapy until they can get some kind of workout equal to walking that far. He just wants them to be able to move after surgery because that helps with the success. He also will give every patient a blood thinner shot before the surgery. Also any patient that has over 100 pounds to lose will be sent home with a blood thinner for the first month after the surgery. He wants all patients not living within 50 miles of his office to enroll in a life flight program that is 50 dollars a year for the whole family so that if an emergency comes up he can get you to the hospital where he is as quick as possible. He also stated that he gives his patients medication to take that helps prevent ulcers so that they have fewer issues with that situation.
